This is the perfect bird feeder. My original one was damaged when a large limb fell on it after a hurricane. I looked endlessly to find this same one.

So far so good.  No squirrels seen on the  feeder.   Great feeder for the price.

I hung this out next to two old bird feeders and when they were empty but the new one was still full I thought that it had worked and now that the squirrels were done the birds could eat. 
Wrong! 
When I went to look at it the two vertical pieces that go up from the feeding holes to the cover were hanging off to the sides and the feeding holes were obstructed, and that's why it was still full. 
The problem is in the design - the washers that the screws go thru to hold the vertical pieces on at the top are too small and the pieces just come right off when the squirrels pull on them. 
Also, they are so thin that one of them was easily bent by a squirrel.

Did not work as advertised

Works pretty well,  but squirrels learn to lie on top and hang down to eat.  I had the hanging wire break after a few months.

Not bad. Not perfect .

Squirrels haven't bothered this feeder, but the birds took notice immediately.  It is a joy to see this year's juveniles as well as parents at the feeder.  It is rarely unoccupied!

More Birds

I have several of these because each one was shipped with missing or broken parts from various merchants. I have notified the parent company and received no response.  On the plus side if you get one that is all together it works pretty good.

Received Broken

The feeder doesn't completely outsmart the squirrels, but it's smooth sides help. The price was affordable and it seemed well made. We got tired of being the food source for squirrels so we decided to try this feeder. First, let me say have a large, clear baffle hanging over the feeder from a long chain (about 4 ft). The belly laughs we got from watching squirrels slide off of the baffle were hysterical. We were confident that we had outsmarted the little varmints. Unfortunately, just like Wiley Coyote, they came back even more determined. They were able to climb down the chain & get onto the lid of the feeder, then hang down to try to eat the birdseed. My husband had some plastic tubing that he was able to slide over the long chain above the baffle, and that worked. It's been 3 mos. and removing their ability to climb down the chain really helped. As I say...not squirrel proof, but with our additional materials, they've moved on.

Not squirrel proof, but helpful

I have had this feeder for about 2 months now and have enjoyed watching the birds eating out of it and the squirrels making attempts to get to it. I left out of town for five days and came back to find a squirrel inside the feeder!!!! Not squirrel proof after all!!!!!! No telling how long the squirrel had been in there but it looked like about half the seeds were eaten

First we put it on the tree. A set of parent squirrels quickly began teaching their young how to raid it. A week later we put it on a pole, which deterred them a bit. But we have some very acrobatic squirrels. He isn't eating the whole feeder, but he does come for snacks.  Not recommended :(

Not squirrel proof

Because the previous model "squirrel proof" feeder I purchased failed, I thought I'd try this one...
By the third day, the squirrels had "wrestled" the perch bars to the point the bars were jammed and wouldn't work; even the metal panel "protecting" the plastic trap door was all dented from the squirrels chewing at it. Today the metal latches that hold the lid in place (by snapping over PLASTIC tabs) was ajar because the plastic tabs had been chewed off completely -- the squirrels had gotten in through the top! I'm starting to wonder if there really is a product that is truly "squirrel proof"...
The design concept is a good start but for it to even begin to be "squirrel proof" it should not have any plastic parts.
...Disappointed again...

3 days until squirrels figured it out!
