Easy to build

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I really like this bookcase! It was easy to put together, and feels decently sturdy. I wouldn't say it's super strong and durable because I've seen stronger ones but nice and decent! I love that it has cubbies and gives more storage options, and I also like the looks of it. You can also add some drawers to it.

Nice decorative and storage piece

I was putting together a competitor brand that fell apart and broke in the process. I threw it out and decided to give Closet Maid a try. What a difference! This is super easy to put together. It is far sturdier than the other brand. Wish I had bought it first. I will definitely buy Closet Maid products again.

Exactly what I was looking for.

I have been looking for an organizational piece to use in our daughter's toy room, but didn't want it to be too large, where she couldn't access it, but also have it be an appealing piece of furniture. The 3-2-1 cube organizer is exactly what I was looking for. Something that I could put bins in to store miscellaneous toys, but also top "shelves" where I could use as a space to decorate. I could easily find bins to fit and the unit is sturdy enough that I can store heavier items in them as well. The toys are no longer laying all over her room, but are now neatly organized! The only side note is that the screws are not flush with the edge of the wall, so the white covers are a little tricky to get on, but with a bit more drilling, they will go in. Highly recommend this product!

For All Organizing Needs

The pieces are not labeled which made it a little more difficult to assemble. The screw covers are pointless because they don't fit, so I had to leave the screws exposed. The dowels don't fit the holes, and the back of this is cheap cardboard. Definitely not worth the money I paid.

disappointed

I've assembled dozens of these types of units. This is the first one where the materials started falling apart as I began putting them together. I pushed the pins into the predrilled holes and, I guess I pushed too hard as I pushed both wood pins straight through the board. It gave like construction paper. I didn't even know I had done it until I flipped the board over. I figured, maybe I can just glue the pieces back in. Then I tried putting in the 1st screw to assemble the outer walls... (step 2) As I turned the screw, the piece split as the screw went into the pre-drilled holes. This material is such garbage. I would not recommend wasting your time and money. This is going right back to the store.

Started falling apart upon initial assembly

half-way through the assembly of the shelf I noticed that the top panel did not sit flush on the finish side. I was unhappy with this, but it wasn't a big enough deal breaker to disassemble everything and return the product to the store. I got to attaching the bottom panel, and looked up and noticed that one of the screws from the top panel had broken through the side of the product. (The entire screw, excluding the head, was "inside" the cabinet). I now have to disassemble everything and take it to the store to get a refund. For the price I paid I would definitely NOT recommend this product.

Terrible

after getting it all out of the box and somewhat put together it became clear the holes for the dowels were not drilled and the holes for the screws were so big the screws fell out..plus big scratches on the shelves..I will need to either drill the holes myself or return the item..

junk

I have always associated the Closetmaid brand with quality, but this product greatly disappointed me. The laminate pieces are not thick enough to handle the screws that came with them.... In fact I never finished putting it together cause one of the end pieces split upon moving while attempting to assemble. That and they have you taking a rubber hammer to push some of the wood screws through the middle section which really made it look bad. C'mon Closetmaid... Could you please improve this product? I would be willing to pay a bit more for it if you did.
