These pie irons are awesome! We use them when we go camping, and they're super easy to use. We've made sandwiches, little pizzas, and yummy pies. They cook really well over the fire, and they're easy to clean. The handles are long, so you don't burn your hands. Everyone had fun using them. Totally worth it!

So far I have 6 of these, hope to pick up a few more for extended family.  Many videos out there on how to season them.  Which is highly recommended to run the cast irons through a few rounds of seasonings.
The metal handles unscrew, so you can do the seasonings in your kitchen oven.  Coghlan's does preseason the irons, but many reviews have complained about food sticking to the cast iron.  That's why I've put the irons through a few more seasonings at home.  I love cast iron for cooking, treat your cookware right

Create Memories Around the Campfire.

Love this camp cooker! We bought it for our last week-long camping trip and made the most of it by looking up some fun recipes. It's an easy and fun way to cook by the campfire. We made some delicious grilled cheese, chicken pot (hand) pies, cinnamon rolls and s'more cookies. I pre-made the chicken pot pie filling and froze it in small portions, then used crescent rolls to create the crust. It was such quick and filling dinner! I didn't take any extra steps to season it before use since it came pre-seasoned, and instead generously oiled it before every use. The first few times it did leave some char residue, but after a couple uses that went away completely. To clean, I use the same steps as my regular cast iron skilled and simply screw off the handles to make it easier to fit in our small camper sink. I scrape and scrub any residue, dry it off when it's clean and apply a light layer of oil before storing. It is such a great cooking tool I may get a second so we can make more dishes at once!

They are great for open fires!  My kids had a blast making sandwiches.  It took a couple tries to get the timing down and not burning them and they did stick a bit as mentioned by others. It is our favorite thing at the camper now.  We do have one that doesnt line up right no matter how you twist  the handle, its either loose lined up up cockeyed tight.

Great for camping

Before first using, unscrew the handles and season the plates by laying them in a cookie sheet and brushing inside and out with vegetable oil. Bake at 250 for an hour.  To make a treat, spread your bread with margarine or butter (NOT oil) as though you were making a toasted cheese. Tuck the slices into each side of the cooker. Add filling, leaving the edges of the bread open so the cooker can seal all the way around. We used homemade bread

Fun for the firepit with a bit of prep

We really like these.  Adds so much variety for over the fire cooking of sandwiches and pies.  It is best to have a way to rest them on something like a grate or fire pit wall, not straight into the fire.  Season them  with oil before the first use so the contents flip out cleanly then just wipe them clean after use without using water.  We have used them about eight times and haven't had any problem with sticking.  I guess we will reseason them if we develop a problem.  Cherry pies and grilled chees are our favorites.

Variety added to campfire foods.

These are great for cooking a variety of things camping.  Pretty easy to use and fun to experiment. I love the many sandwiches, pizza pockets and pies this easily makes. My favorite so far is omelets with egg cheese and bacon, so good while camping. Look around online and you will find almost endless recipes for "pie irons" its a great addition to the camp gear.
