Hinges

Price

I've read reviews that fault the lack of hinges on this cooler. I work in beverage catering and I can tell you that hinges get in the way. I choose these and the stackable coolers because I can run them through our commercial dishwashers to sanitize the insides. You can't do that with hinged lids. Brilliant product and a great price!

This cooler has paid for it's self already. (I got it on sale for $20)

I used this cooler twice. Both of these times were during power outages. One lasted 6  hours, the other lasted at least 24 hours. For both, I used the same large bag of ice. This and of ice did not attempt to melt. (I also repurposed 20oz Gatorade bottles to keep inside of cooler cold)

This cooler may not save everything in your fridge, but with creative packing, you can save some. Smaller things, such as hotdogs, deli meats, cheese, eggs, even some meats can be stored easily.

With the above being said, consider food safety. I don't recommend that you spread your deli meats across frozen chicken. I am no doctor, nor have I stayed at a Holiday Inn, but some rewards don't seem worth the risks.

I am not going to try and compare this to any other product, especially something I haven't used. Different tools have different jobs. If you're going to be spending a week in a remote area, get a cooler that will suffice. If you're looking for something for an over night camping trip, to bring food home on hot days, to keep a little food for a few hours during a power outage, or even keep foods cold while cooking out, this may be the cooler for you.

Fits perfectly in the backwell of my Perception Pescador Pro 10 kayak with room to spare. It does not come with hinges, so I purchased the stainless steel hinges from Coleman and it works great. Haven't tried it in the heat to see how long the ice will last, but should keep my catch cold for atleast the entire day out.

Great cooler for on the go

This was the right size cooler for my weekend needs.

Perfect size cooler

Good cooler!  I think every single cooler of any kind should have a drain spout.  This does not, but it is a size that I can fairly easily drain it myself.

I bought this cooler because I hunt, fish, tailgate, and camp throughout the year and didn't have one that was the perfect size. So far I like the cooler and think its been good to me. I haven't had the chance to use it during warm weather yet, but I'm excited about using it this summer. It's a great size cooler for two people that are going away for the weekend. I used mine on a 5 hour road trip and everything stayed cold and the ice didn't melt at all. Again, I haven't used it during warm weather yet so I'm not sure how it'll maintain ice in the heat, but I have a good feeling it'll do just fine.

I didn't keep this long enough to do a true evaluation of it.  I bought it expecting a marine quality cooler.  When I picked it up I didn't feel like it met the description, so I immediately returned it.  The photos do not show the hinges well.  They have stainless hardware....attaching the same old cheap plastic hinges.  The tie down points are poorly placed for you to be able to tie down the cooler and still open the lid and there is no positive latching system so if you do tie it down where you can open the lid, so can the wind while you are flying down the lake.  When that happens with those cheap hinges, your lid will likely separate from the cooler.

It may never happen, but I had enough concerns with the design, I left it in the store when I seen it in person.

I am very disappointed that chest has no hinges. I did not notice in the description that the top was insecure. Otherwise the chest looks very nice. Unable to distinguish what the model number is because there is about 4 on the bottom. I would like to see if hinges to fit this chest is available

I've always used Coleman products and been satisfied. I special ordered these because I wanted the durability of a marine cooler with a five day ice rating. When I received the coolers I couldn't find anywhere on the label where it gave the duration of ice retention. Then I discovered that there was absolutely no insulation in the lid. I guess some bean counter figured that coleman could save fifty cents if they didn't insulate the lid. Way to go Coleman.
