I have Coleman fuel, Coleman kerosene and Coleman propane lanterns and I like them all for different uses. The Northstar propane is really convenient with the push button ignition and the fact that propane needs no warmup time to vaporize the fuel, plus they run a little cleaner with hardly any smell and it is by far the brightest of the bunch. The only downside is propane is the most expensive to operate but is not a big issue for me. I definitely wouldn't be without one and would consider it a good choice for backup lighting for power outages.

Northstar lantern

We have had the dual fuel laterns in the past, but the propane is so much easier. Turn the knob press the button and you are good to go. Even my wife can light it.

So Easy to Use

Was looking for a lantern that was tough enough. This one far exceeds my expectations! The case is lightweight yet very durable.

Exactly what it said it was!

This lantern is great for all of my camping. It's always bright, durable, and reliable. I love that it comes with a case to keep it protected until time to use it. It's portable and easy to take along in the car or clipped to my backpack. I always feel safe knowing I have this light setup with me.

Easy to set up at camp site, being a first time user. It illuminated the camp site just perfect. The case is very convenient to travel with knowing the lantern is stored safely. I didn't have to worry about it breaking when packing in up with all the camping gears.

No complaints

I have used Coleman lanterns my whole life and enjoy the light that they provide. However, both of my lanterns that I received today came with bent screws on the top of the lantern to where I could not even screw the cover on properly. I would give it 5 stars if it was not for receiving such damaged products since the lanterns work wonderfully and are bright.

I have an older Coleman NorthStar lantern and comparing the one I got from WM, the quality has gone down significantly. The fit of globe to base is very poor. Threads for gas bottle are not very good, requiring much care to avoid cross threading. I am surprised at the quality degradation over what they formerly made. On a positive note shipping and service from Wal Mart were very good

The mantel had a tear in it so out of the box i was unable to use it during our camping trip.   It would be nice if they included more than one in the box.  I now have to order one and pull all of our camping gear out to test before the return window closes

The bolt in the top of the lantern that is there to hold the top is loose and falls into the lantern making it almost impossible to secure the top to the lantern.      Very poorly designed.
