For an ultra-minimal look, the conceal bookshelf from Umbra mounts to the wall and becomes invisible behind a stack of books, giving the books the appearance of floating in mid-air. Attach the sturdy, L-shaped shelf to the wall with the included mounting hardware and slide one book onto the ledge so that the ledge is sandwiched between the Book's cover and pages. Secure the cover in place using the integrated clips beneath the ledge. Stack up to 20-pound (or 8-Inch) of medium to large books on top of the first book until the shelf is obscured from view. Conceal is constructed of strong, powder-coated steel and is available in two finishes. Each Conceal Floating Bookshelf, Large, measures 5-1/2 by 7 by 6-1/2-inch. Also available is a smaller size for small books. The patented design by Miron Lior is the winner of many design awards including the Umbra Pratt Design Competition. A portion of the proceeds from the sale of this item is donated to the Pratt Institute School of Art and Design. The design of this shelf is amazing! I love the look of my books floating on the wall, and compared to some alternatives on other sites, the price is just right. I wanted the illusion of one single, tall stack so I marked each shelf uniquely by holding the shelf with the books on the wall. It's easier to do this by hanging the bottom shelf first in my experience. Also, the anchors that came with the package aren't my favorite because there is a thick rim that affects the shelf's ability to sit flush, and the included screws don't stop spinning when fully screwed down, but they can work if tapped in flush to the wall. I have mine hung in a high traffic area, and I've bumped quite a few times and no books have fallen. I really love the look and bought the small size for my novels and the large size for my cookbooks!

Great minimal design, might sub hanging hardware

Love these. We have so many books in our house and this is a great and different way to use the books as decor! I just wish I bought the small ones instead of the large ones. If you get the large ones, they'd probably be better for recipe books or things like that. If you read a lot of novels I'd suggest get the small size!

Easy to install, great way to have books as decor

Bought 8 of the floating books shelves for my bedroom. I was worried about them ripping out of the wall or something, but they are VERY sturdy. 

Love these shelves and have gotten lots of compliments on them!

These look awesome and were very easy to install. I was a little worried about how many books you need to stack to cover the shelf backing but they hold a surprising amount - would recommend!

I couldn't stand looking over at our mess of a nightstand with 20 books sitting on top along with lamps, cel phones, chargers, etc...now it's completely neat, clean and prettily displayed on our floating shelves. Highly recommend!

Total Zen Floating Book Shelves

As advertised, this is a great way to expand your book display capacity. My one bedroom condo has very limited floor space for bookshelves- this is a GREAT solution! The install was easy, using their hardware, screws and plastic anchor sleeves.

Durable, good looking, easily installed, innovative design makes a welcomed home display & storage solution utilizing what had previously been unused wall space.

Innovative display storage combination

The required size of books  for the large shelf is so precise and only worked for my biggest, heaviest books which would have made it too heavy to stack. I returned it and will get the small version with the hopes that I can more easily stack my paperback novels.

Large size didn't work for me. Too heavy.

The shelves are great quality and everything, but the part that sticks out from the wall is too long so it won't work with any of my books. I had to use them like regular shelves. Still nice but I don't get the concealed "floating" shelf look.

Good quality but not the right size for most books

The lower plate that is used to create the invisible look is too large and awkward to fit most standard books. Otherwise it was fairly easy to install and looks decent. Also the provided wall anchors are lower quality and don't quite hold the screws in the most effective way.
