Running dedicated winter M/S performance tires is a must here in Vail, Colorado. On day one of our new 2020 Outback T/XT a 4 set of Discoverer True North winter tires were installed, size 225/60HR18 on the OE rims; 7x18" et55. Day two began a 1,500mi road trip to Vail, CO. With cold temps coupled with light snow along the way the Cooper winter tires delivered. Once in Vail where packed snow conditions are common, the tires were sure-footed providing good feedback when braking, etc. Quiet w/comfortable ride character on the hwy; 65 to 90mph. ..

I bought these tires and had them installed on the 27th of September and on the 2nd of October we got 40 cm of snow. This is probably the first time I've guessed right about installing my winter tires in a timely fashion. I chose the Cooper tires based on experience with Discoverer M+S tires that I'd used on a Toyota FJ for over a decade. My new tires, Discoverer True North, are on a Subaru Outback. I'm impressed with the grip and control the tire offered in accelerating and stopping on ice and in deep snow. They are also significantly quieter on dry pavement than all but a very expensive set of Bridgestone tires I had on a BMW I'd previously owned. My installer told me this was the only set of these tires he'd sold. That's a pity because they seem to work very well. I bought them based on past experience with Cooper tires and a very positive report from Consumer Reports. My decision seems to have been a good one.

Good tires

Wife got a new Subaru Impreza last year just before winter. We can experience every type of weather in a 24 hour period during the winter months, so, like the Impreza, we wanted something that could tackle it all. The True North was a relatively new model tire and sounded like it might fit the bill, so we thought we'd give them a try. We have been thoroughly impressed with them... especially in the super slippery stuff. The Impreza sticks like glue with these tires on. I almost hate to take them off in the Spring.
It's like they were made for the Impreza.

Cooper Tires

Four mounted on 2006 Mustang GT, we've had several substantial snowstorms since the first of the year, the Mustang plows through untreated roads as if they were dry. The cars pushes straight and the stopping is very impressive, Ice seems to have no effect, the tires grip and don't slip. I'm really impressed..! bring on the blizzards, I'm very confident and very impressed with the performance of these tires. Dry conditions they are very quiet and the car handles nicely. I even like the look of the tire, the aggressive tread pattern just adds even more to the badboy image of my Mustang. I'm ready for whatever Mother Nature want's to throw at me this winter.

Amazing..!

I purchased my True North tires in November of 2020, I have experienced 1 major storm so far (a Nor Easter that dumped 18" inches on us. I experienced a major increase in traction with them, than I had with my Michelin Pilots, that came with the car. I only buy Cooper because of their high quality, design, materials and the fact that they are Union Made in the U.S.A,

Well, after an excellent test over the past 2 weeks, these tires impress me.
Rained all day, then freezing rain overnight, then snow in the morning. Basically nightmare driving. 

Took off for work, and was really surprised at how well these handled. Felt very comfortable driving to work.

The following week it snowed more and there were soft spots all over. Changing lanes going through the snow piles in the middle were no problem. Never got pushed around, it just plowed right through. 
Went through a few parking lots for fun.I hit the gas, cranked the wheel and they took me where I wanted to go!

Basically I wake up in the morning and say "I hope it snowed!!"

Did it snow? Didn't notice...

The True North is one of the best tires I have ever had. They are outstanding on my Ford Edge SEL AWD. Sure footed, Quiet, and show almost no tread wear @ 6,000 miles. I drive hard and aggressively and they have never made me feel uncomfortable or unsure @ anytime. 
I am pleased with my purchase and repeated experience and performance I have Gotten from this, my seventh set of Cooper Tires that I have had on my four vehicles

True North

I drove over 4500 mile trip from South Carolina to Alaska during the winter. I never lost faith in the tires driving through blizzards, snow fall and on ice along the drive. During the winter -40 F there was great traction on ice and snow. Through all swings of weather love these tires. These were on a Honda HRV all wheel drive vehicle.

Great tires

I chose this tire because I do a lot of highway driving and wanted a quiet smooth snow tire, these tires are extremely quiet for any type tire. They also ride very comfortable but only under 60 mph, very good in snow, average in rain, but had 1 annoying problem: Vibration at highway speeds. Went back to shop and they admitted that the two rear tires were out-of-round on balancer. They replaced with 2 other tires and now 1 was out of round and still had slight vibration on highway. They tried their best to balance but still not completely satisfied. Its this experience that I cant recommend them and would try Evolution next time.

Nice tire but...

I've only had these for a few weeks now so my review has its limitations. As a winter tire, it's been good so far for traction. However, I do find it noisy at if I start going faster than 50 km/hr. I wasn't expecting that since I used to have a set of cooper weather master wsc on my xt5 and had no issues with noise. Price wise, I find these to be on the pricier end, being quite comparable in price to the Michelin x-ice. I think the price difference came out to about 10 bux per tire. I'm uncertain whether the quality of this tire will be as close to the michelins since I've already found them to be noisy.

Kinda noisy

I have put 6,000 miles on the Discoverer True North tires in city driving with winter conditions. The first 4,000 miles they provided excellent winter traction. Since then, they have lost their grip on snow and ice despite having significant tread left. They now provide little added traction with accelerating and stopping.

Grip does not last
