I bought these tires and had them installed on the 27th of September and on the 2nd of October we got 40 cm of snow. This is probably the first time I've guessed right about installing my winter tires in a timely fashion. I chose the Cooper tires based on experience with Discoverer M+S tires that I'd used on a Toyota FJ for over a decade. My new tires, Discoverer True North, are on a Subaru Outback. I'm impressed with the grip and control the tire offered in accelerating and stopping on ice and in deep snow. They are also significantly quieter on dry pavement than all but a very expensive set of Bridgestone tires I had on a BMW I'd previously owned. My installer told me this was the only set of these tires he'd sold. That's a pity because they seem to work very well. I bought them based on past experience with Cooper tires and a very positive report from Consumer Reports. My decision seems to have been a good one.

Wife got a new Subaru Impreza last year just before winter. We can experience every type of weather in a 24 hour period during the winter months, so, like the Impreza, we wanted something that could tackle it all. The True North was a relatively new model tire and sounded like it might fit the bill, so we thought we'd give them a try. We have been thoroughly impressed with them... especially in the super slippery stuff. The Impreza sticks like glue with these tires on. I almost hate to take them off in the Spring.

Running dedicated winter M/S performance tires is a must here in Vail, Colorado. On day one of our new 2020 Outback T/XT a 4 set of Discoverer True North winter tires were installed, size 225/60HR18 on the OE rims; 7x18" et55. Day two began a 1,500mi road trip to Vail, CO. With cold temps coupled with light snow along the way the Cooper winter tires delivered. Once in Vail where packed snow conditions are common, the tires were sure-footed providing good feedback when braking, etc. Quiet w/comfortable ride character on the hwy; 65 to 90mph. ..

Four mounted on 2006 Mustang GT, we've had several substantial snowstorms since the first of the year, the Mustang plows through untreated roads as if they were dry. The cars pushes straight and the stopping is very impressive, Ice seems to have no effect, the tires grip and don't slip. I'm really impressed..! bring on the blizzards, I'm very confident and very impressed with the performance of these tires. Dry conditions they are very quiet and the car handles nicely. I even like the look of the tire, the aggressive tread pattern just adds even more to the badboy image of my Mustang. I'm ready for whatever Mother Nature want's to throw at me this winter.

2006 RWD ford explorer. Old tires were squirrly on a nice day. Only drove this vehicle on dry days.  Thought I'd try a set of winter tires and bought 4 cooper true north. Whoa. Night and day better traction in wet and ice snow conditions. It handles better than my 4wd yukon with these winter tires. 2 deg right now, snowing, ice everywhere and just got my kid to his game. Had to share. You want a set of phenomenal tires for these conditions, These are them.

Awesome traction

I was skeptical at first do to the non convenience tire pattern. The tread did not look aggressive enough to me. The sales person recommended I go with True North due to the higher speed rating vs.the other CT I wanted to get. I drive a fwd '05 s40 and it's like Cooper was made for Volvo. 

 I'm glad that I listened to the tire shop guy because these tires have gotten through all the snowy weather we've been having here in Toronto. Heavy snow ,ice, slush, extreme cold weather, you will feel confident after you get yourself a set of Cooper True North Tires.

Perfect snow tire

My previous set of tires were Cooper all-season and those lasted much, much longer than I would have ever expected. However, these Ohio winters throw a lot of unknowns into the mix and so, since I transport my family a lot in this vehicle, I decided winter tires would be a good investment. My concern was that road-noise would increase substantially, but I'm happy to report that these tires are about as quiet as any tire I've purchased for any vehicle, regardless of the season. The breaking and handling has improved dramatically and during some initial cold and wet late-autumn weather, these tires have already proven to be a vast improvement and the vehicle feels much safer to drive.

Satisfied Customer, Once Again

I purchased my True North tires in November of 2020, I have experienced 1 major storm so far (a Nor Easter that dumped 18" inches on us. I experienced a major increase in traction with them, than I had with my Michelin Pilots, that came with the car. I only buy Cooper because of their high quality, design, materials and the fact that they are Union Made in the U.S.A,

Traction concern.

I've only had these for a few weeks now so my review has its limitations. As a winter tire, it's been good so far for traction. However, I do find it noisy at if I start going faster than 50 km/hr. I wasn't expecting that since I used to have a set of cooper weather master wsc on my xt5 and had no issues with noise. Price wise, I find these to be on the pricier end, being quite comparable in price to the Michelin x-ice. I think the price difference came out to about 10 bux per tire. I'm uncertain whether the quality of this tire will be as close to the michelins since I've already found them to be noisy.

Kinda noisy

I have put 6,000 miles on the Discoverer True North tires in city driving with winter conditions. The first 4,000 miles they provided excellent winter traction. Since then, they have lost their grip on snow and ice despite having significant tread left. They now provide little added traction with accelerating and stopping.
