Running dedicated winter M/S performance tires is a must here in Vail, Colorado. On day one of our new 2020 Outback T/XT a 4 set of Discoverer True North winter tires were installed, size 225/60HR18 on the OE rims; 7x18" et55. Day two began a 1,500mi road trip to Vail, CO. With cold temps coupled with light snow along the way the Cooper winter tires delivered. Once in Vail where packed snow conditions are common, the tires were sure-footed providing good feedback when braking, etc. Quiet w/comfortable ride character on the hwy; 65 to 90mph. ..

Wife got a new Subaru Impreza last year just before winter. We can experience every type of weather in a 24 hour period during the winter months, so, like the Impreza, we wanted something that could tackle it all. The True North was a relatively new model tire and sounded like it might fit the bill, so we thought we'd give them a try. We have been thoroughly impressed with them... especially in the super slippery stuff. The Impreza sticks like glue with these tires on. I almost hate to take them off in the Spring.
It's like they were made for the Impreza.

Four mounted on 2006 Mustang GT, we've had several substantial snowstorms since the first of the year, the Mustang plows through untreated roads as if they were dry. The cars pushes straight and the stopping is very impressive, Ice seems to have no effect, the tires grip and don't slip. I'm really impressed..! bring on the blizzards, I'm very confident and very impressed with the performance of these tires. Dry conditions they are very quiet and the car handles nicely. I even like the look of the tire, the aggressive tread pattern just adds even more to the badboy image of my Mustang. I'm ready for whatever Mother Nature want's to throw at me this winter.

Amazing..!

I bought these tires and had them installed on the 27th of September and on the 2nd of October we got 40 cm of snow. This is probably the first time I've guessed right about installing my winter tires in a timely fashion. I chose the Cooper tires based on experience with Discoverer M+S tires that I'd used on a Toyota FJ for over a decade. My new tires, Discoverer True North, are on a Subaru Outback. I'm impressed with the grip and control the tire offered in accelerating and stopping on ice and in deep snow. They are also significantly quieter on dry pavement than all but a very expensive set of Bridgestone tires I had on a BMW I'd previously owned. My installer told me this was the only set of these tires he'd sold. That's a pity because they seem to work very well. I bought them based on past experience with Cooper tires and a very positive report from Consumer Reports. My decision seems to have been a good one.

Well, after an excellent test over the past 2 weeks, these tires impress me.
Rained all day, then freezing rain overnight, then snow in the morning. Basically nightmare driving. 

Took off for work, and was really surprised at how well these handled. Felt very comfortable driving to work.

The following week it snowed more and there were soft spots all over. Changing lanes going through the snow piles in the middle were no problem. Never got pushed around, it just plowed right through. 
Went through a few parking lots for fun.I hit the gas, cranked the wheel and they took me where I wanted to go!

Basically I wake up in the morning and say "I hope it snowed!!"

Did it snow? Didn't notice...

I was skeptical at first do to the non convenience tire pattern. The tread did not look aggressive enough to me. The sales person recommended I go with True North due to the higher speed rating vs.the other CT I wanted to get. I drive a fwd '05 s40 and it's like Cooper was made for Volvo. 

 I'm glad that I listened to the tire shop guy because these tires have gotten through all the snowy weather we've been having here in Toronto. Heavy snow ,ice, slush, extreme cold weather, you will feel confident after you get yourself a set of Cooper True North Tires.

Perfect snow tire

I bought these tires to put on the family SUV. We are in the midst of a serious weather event that is not super common in our area. Basically the roads are a mix of snow and solid ice. These tires have great stopping grip. The tires clear the snow well, so the snow does not accumulate in the tread. Keeping speeds appropriate and stopping distances appropriate, I feel very safe with these tires.

Great grip and safe tires

I chose this tire because I do a lot of highway driving and wanted a quiet smooth snow tire, these tires are extremely quiet for any type tire. They also ride very comfortable but only under 60 mph, very good in snow, average in rain, but had 1 annoying problem: Vibration at highway speeds. Went back to shop and they admitted that the two rear tires were out-of-round on balancer. They replaced with 2 other tires and now 1 was out of round and still had slight vibration on highway. They tried their best to balance but still not completely satisfied. Its this experience that I cant recommend them and would try Evolution next time.

Nice tire but...

I have put 6,000 miles on the Discoverer True North tires in city driving with winter conditions. The first 4,000 miles they provided excellent winter traction. Since then, they have lost their grip on snow and ice despite having significant tread left. They now provide little added traction with accelerating and stopping.
