Crescent makes very good tools, mostly the wrenches. These are better linesman's for electrical cutting, slightly slower jaw open and closing, great for cutting.

All the standard lineman's plier features but with the added compound action. The compound action has worked well so far. Good build quality and finish. They were a little stiff at first but easily broke in after being used a few times. I got my first pair a few years ago and have since bought a second pair.

If you need these pliers only for the job they are named for, then get them! You can't do better. But if you use pliers for multiple purposes you will probably be put off by the fact that the pliers don't open more than 1/2" at the tip, which is also the widest point of the business end of the tool.

Solid, well-built, great action, but don't open wide enough

There's a significant amount of slop, to the point that it would be frustrating to use. Maybe I just got unlucky.

Slop til' you drop (stay in school, kids)

I had them for 8 months and they worked well. Then today i was trying to cut 14/2 Romex and it would cut about 90% of the way through and not go any further. So then I looked and the pivot bearing/rod fell out. Will not buy another pair with the pivot seeing as it can work its way out. Nothing like being down a pair of linesman when I was barely half way through the work day.
