I had to replace my Cricut Explorer 2 with a Cricut Explore 4. I wasn't sure what to expect as I really enjoyed using my Explore 2. I absolutely LOVE my new machine. It is so much faster and runs much smoother than my old machine. The updates are amazing.

From Cricut Explore 2 to Explore 4

I upgraded my machine from the Explore Air two which I was very happy with.  But upgrading to the Explore 4.  was such a great decision . It is so fast and easy to use.  I love that I can use it through Wi-Fi which means I only need the power cord which is great.  It is so precise and fast I am Loving the Explore 4.

this is probably the best Cricut I've ever purchased. (I've bought 5 so far over the past 20 years.)...which should be expected...as technology improves.  That said, it's amazingly fast, soooo easy to use, (the software is excellent and self-explanatory), and the machine itself is extremely versatile.  However, the SPEEEEEEED is so much greater than even my Cricut Maker 3, it's phenomenal!  With the price point being so much lower than the Maker 4, it was a no-brainer!  I love it (so far!)  They've vastly improved the  calibration as well, so even that is better in 2026.  I'm happppppyyyyyy!!!!!!

I purchased this to use just for cutting circles for air freshener labels. I had a few hole punchers that I used manually, they were great and fast but they would stop working not too long after purchase, so I decided to look into a Cricut. I get that the sticky insert has to always be used so nothing slides, it's just a pain. I wish there was a way I could put a stack of cardstock in the machine, choose the number of copies I want and then let it cut......but that's not how this works. I do believe this is an awesome machine and those who purchase this can definitely do a ton of things with it. I'm only using it to cut circles - time consuming but it's fine.

Good for those who want to do so many things

Very nice unit, I have just started to “explore". I can imagine all the different applications I can use as a model car builder! The only feature I would comment on is wishing there was slide adjustable feed guides for using other size materials. This would make it acceptable to use scraps of unused vinyl or other substrates. Design Space photo editing is a little clunky

Only wish

I had been putting off buying a new machine because I am a creature of habit (and I didn't like the previous colors of mint, pink, blue). However, my Explore 2 was dying. So, I bit the bullet and bought the Explore 4. I was absolutely blown away by how much faster it goes. At times it concerns me, wondering if the speed with make it wear out faster, but for now it is super helpful. The cons to the new machine is the difficulty I have getting it to connect by bluetooth. My computer will show that it's connected, and the on button turns blue on the machine, but Design Space will not acknowledge it. On the old machine there were better ways to troubleshoot a connection problem, now I actually have to close the program and reopen it in order for it to connect. Also, since the new machine does not have a dial to choose paper type, there is additional steps that you have to take to choose the paper you are using. This is a drag when you have to choose every single time you load paper, even within the same project. Even so, as long as I don't have further connectivity problems, I am thoroughly enjoying how fast I can get projects done.

Amazing how fast but connectivity challenges

Really easy to get started, I had the software and machine ready to go in minutes. The sample pieces make it easy tog et oriented to how the machine works. I'm used to CAD design, so design space was a bit less precise than I like, but I was able to make my own shapes and projects with a bit more work. One part I think is unnecessary is the "beep" the machine make every time the blade goes up or down; gets a little annoying when sitting beside the machine for a while. Other than that, I had no issues with it and once I got my custom material homed in, it was smooth sailing.

Easy to use, less technical than hoped for

I have had an Explore Air 2, but recently purchased an Explore Air 4. The 2 was great, no issues. The 4, however, will not connect to Bluetooth on my laptop, or rather it connects but within 2-3 seconds it disconnects. If I use the cord to connect the machine works fine, and is much faster than the 2.

Trouble with Bluetooth

The major issue I have with the hardware is 'discovery'. Takes extensive effort just to get the unit recognized by my PC to start making. I have a USB connection, but for my most recent project had to switch to Bluetooth to get it to work.  I am not a tech novice, so this is frustrating.  I bought this unit because my Explorer 2 mat feed wheels turned to mush and disintegrated. 
The recent versions of software seems to be weak also. I could not bold just one word of text in a sentence, it was all normal or all bold. The in-process status reporting is incorrect. You will see Finished Drawing and yet have another 15 minutes before it's actually done. It really means all the drawing data has been sent to the machine, not that the machine is finished executing.  The software is also not robust in recovering. I walked away from a job today expecting it to finish later. My PC went to sleep during the job while 75% done, and I was unable to get the app to reconnect to the machine to finish the job. No amount of button pressing on the machine was recognized by the software except for power off/on, and the job therefore ruined using my last piece of that particular card stock. I learned over the last 2+ years that you have to have at least twice the amount of project material on-hand because you will have to do at least one or more prototype runs before you do anything for real. It's an amazingly capable machine when it works, it frustrating when it doesn't.

Not too thrilled

Your free software is a total scam . It is so hard to navigate because everything is rigged to make you believe that purchases are necessary. If I would have known that the "FREE" software was so terrible due to trying to make you pay for something at every turn, I would have never bought this machine.

Free software . Yeah right.
