I upgraded from the explore air 2 to the explore 5. The 5 cuts so much faster. I love the low profile design and that I don’t have to hit start at the beginning of every cut. The fact that it be reads the material and just starts cutting it great!  Very user friendly. I would recommend this machine to anyone!

I Love It!

Set up was quick and easy, with plenty of materials and tools to start making right away.  This new machine has load and go, only one button to push, and loads the material/mat and starts cutting immediately. The new scoring tool works well with all materials I tried. I tested several materials, different weights of cardstock, vinyl, iron-on, infusible ink, felt, acetate, and so on; the Explore 5 cut everything quickly and precisely.

Excellent Machine

From setup to making the first project was seamless. I love the speed and precision of the cuts. I have made a few projects with cardstock, vinyl, and printables and am very pleased with the results. Compact machine, precision cuts!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Explore 5 cut with precision.  The Explore 5 loads quietly but is noisier upon cutting.  It scores with a crisp easy to see score line.  It does these processes with adequate speed.  The machine is versatile as it accommodates pens, scoring tool and blade.  I used the enclosed pen and the drawing super! The machine can cut a variety of mediums including vinyl, cardstock and fabric (need a different blade).

Easy to Use Machine

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have been using a Cricut Maker 3 for four years. I got this new Explore 5 and it is so fast! Oh my goodness, the speed is amazing. The new scoring tool works great. I love the way the new pens fit . I’ve made cards, print then cut stickers and iron-on. I am so impressed with Load and Go, it’s quick and easy! The smaller design was the biggest factor for why I wanted this machine. It is the perfect addition to my craftroom.

Smaller, faster and versatile

The pen feature on the Explore 5 is incredibly beginner-friendly. The on-screen prompts clearly show how to load the pen and which pens are compatible, completely removing any guesswork. The additional prompts made it easy to know exactly when to switch pens during the project.

Switching Machines & Running Two Machines Simultaneously

I tested running two machines at the same time using two separate windows—cutting simultaneously with the Explore 5 and the Joy Xtra. Both machines performed perfectly. The shapes cut identically on each machine, with no rips, tears, or jagged edges, which was very impressive.

Cutting Performance

The Explore 5 truly shined when cutting all types of materials (cardstock, iron-on, vinyl). The cuts were absolutely perfect, and the machine handled the materials beautifully.

Scoring Tool

The scoring tool performed very well in terms of accuracy and placement.
 
Ease of Use & Reliability

The Explore 5’s on-screen prompts completely took the guesswork out of the making process, allowing even beginners to create with confidence. The machine was fast, accurate, and reliable throughout testing, with no Bluetooth disconnects, connectivity issues, or delays during cutting.

Overall Impression

Overall, I am extremely impressed with the Explore 5. The speed, accuracy, clean cuts, and overall performance exceeded my expectations. It delivered excellent results across multiple materials and tools, making it a powerful and reliable machine for both beginners and experienced crafters.

Amazing Machine

(This review was collected as part of a promotion.) My first Cricut machine was a Cricut Explore Air 2.  So this was my basis of comparison for the Explore 5 machine, and the bar was already set pretty high!  I love that the Explore 5 loads and goes with the touch of just one button, which increases the cutting speed if you love making projects with lots of materials or mats. 
The scoring tool, is in the same clamp as the blade, which guarantees perfect precision for all score lines.  This is extremely important for a paper crafter like myself.  The pens and the foiling tool worked beautifully.  I created projects with very intricate cuts and the Explore 5 handled them without any issues. It's a fantastic machine and I love that it takes up less room in my craft space than the comparable machines.

Brilliant Improvements On An Excellent Machine

Not as expected.  No power on button.  Tears vinyl.  It is just a glorified Cricut Joy. Unfortunately, there are no machine color choices.  Also, there is no at to conbect directly to a computer or laptop.  It was not worth it to change machines.
