Have you ever read a book that - as much as you want to know what happens - you don't want to end, because that means the end of a massively good time? That book that you get sucked into the story, into the characters, into everything. 

Allow me to introduce you to Tox, aka Cole Russell

Ok, if you read Ms. Kendig's books, you already know Tox. But she has pulled out all the stops with this installment in the Tox Files. To quote Cell, Ms. Kendig has 'totally Jonesed it!' Ie, it's the ultimate combination of good Christian fiction, military action, Indiana Jones adventure, with Robert Langdon scholasticism. 

Oh, yeah, and let's not forget Tox and Haven. All through the last book, I was pulling for them something fierce, and this book only reinforces that....and then breaks it...and then pulls them together again...I love Haven's ability to observe and see what others miss. Ms. Kendig has a special propensity to write romance into her books without it being disgustingly sweet, with characters that balance each other out well, each playing to their respective strengths and differences. 

Along those lines, the villain this time around, Alec King, is a wonderfully fleshed-out character, and I enjoyed reading about him. A former teammate of Tox's, Alec has really gone off the deep end, but believably so. He's not that cheesy bad guy who is just there to provide plot; his story is believable, and just as Cole wants him to be rescued, so do you as the reader. 

All in all, another wonderfully crafted adventure from Ms. Kendig's writing desk, and one that leads you into the next story with anticipation.

Tox and his team are at it again in the second book of this intriguing series. This time the team is trying to track down a fellow soldier who has decided to take justice into his own hands. What causes a good man to turn to such extreme measures? What does an ancient crown and multiple archeological digs have to do with any of this? 

Ronie Kendig excels at weaving ancient archeologic discoveries with possible present day scenarios. The action and suspense are excellent, but I believe the emotions are the heart of the story. We all struggle with the line between right and wrong, good and evil, black and white. The world exists in so many gray areas. How do you keep yourself from crossing the line? How do you perceive yourself for past mistakes? Also, how do you view friends and loved ones who have crossed the line and made horrible decisions?

This story keeps you hooked from page 1 and leaves you begging for more at the last page. I cannot wait for the next story in this series.

Must read Crown of Souls

Shrouded in intrigue and mystery, Kendig ensnared me from page one.  I was transported to the desert surrounded by fantastic artifacts and found myself in awe of her descriptions.  By opening his book you are in for a treat.  I was dying to find out what happens, but also wanting to savor every moment knowing that eventually the book has to end.  Crown of Souls follows Tox and his top secret team known as Wraith as they tackle whatever is sent their way.  Each man has his skills, and they are all an integral part of the team.  This is the second novel in the Tox Files Series.  I would recommend you read the first book and Novella, not because it's necessary to enjoy this one, but because they are that good.  In this book Tox must decide who he really is.  Can he see the fine line between right and wrong?  

Alec King is a skilled soldier.  There was a time when Tix would say they were like brothers.  Time has passed, and when Alec contacts Tox to help him write some wrongs, Tox can see where he is coming from.  Determined to do the right thing without hurting more people Wraith sets out to capture Alec.  Little do they know there are some mysterious ancient artifacts in play, and nothing is as it seems.  Can they stop Alec before it's too late?  

I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys an amazing ride.  From the beginning I felt as if I was on an adventure and never wanted it to end.  I loved the relationship between Tox and his team, and how Haven understood him.  Loving a soldier seems like no easy task, but if anyone can do it, Haven can.  I can't wait to see what Kendig comes up with next.  I am anxiously awaiting Thirst for Steel.  I received a copy of this book and was in no way forced to post a positive review.  All opinions expressed are my own.

Amazing

Well, that was a crazy-intense ride!  Seriously, there were times that I had to put it down to absorb what was happening. This book is incredibly well-written and well-researched. I find the Biblical archaeology angle to be intriguing. This is such a unique story, and I highly recommend this book.

Excellent Read

This book was so good!

This is the first time I have read one of Ronie's books and although this is the second book in the series, I didn't feel lost and I loved it!! There was just enough information in this book to help the reader not feel lost, but not enough to give away the whole story in book 1. So I still plan to read book 1.

Tox is an amazingly complex character that I am sure many readers will fall in love with. Tox has great relationships with the guys on team Wraith, and you can see that he truly cares about them and their lives. The dynamics between Haven and Tox play out in interesting ways, especially when you throw in previous love interests! How will Wraith's mission play out? Will it have irrevocable consequences in their lives? And how will the secret that Tox is keeping affect the relationship between him and Haven? There is lots of intrigue and suspense, military action and history all thrown together with just enough romance! This book will keep you engaged to the last page and leave you wishing it wasn't over!

I also loved how there was a dual timeline taking place. It did take me a little bit to get into the older story but after a while you realize how important it is to the current day story taking place. Oh. My. Tox!

Once again Ronie Kendig draws us into a complex world of military, history, and fantasy. The story she weaves has so many layers that all work together, building to a such a climax that you can't stop reading! 

I'm continually impressed with her knowledge & use of both historical & geographical information as well as her military vocabulary & descriptions. Better than any action flick, Kendig's books play the scenes before you as you are both main character & a fly on the wall. 

Tox Russell's unfolding story is so moving, especially his struggle with his past & the war within regarding his identity. Is he a monster? Is he worthy of redemption? 

Heart still pounding from having just finished Crown of Souls, I'm already anxiously awaiting the next chapter of the Tox Files!

Crown of Souls - A Must Read!

A deadly game of cat and mouse starts when their team leader Cole "Tox" Russel is shot by a sniper on American soil.  It's an action packed global adventure to stop Alex King and return the Crown of Souls to its rightful place before he kills again.  A military op with shades of Indiana Jones. Tox is back

Ronie Kendig did it again!  A fast paced, do not put down, story that starts off with a bang (Literally!) and doesn't slow down. What do you do when someone is killing people?  Someone that you know.  Someone that you can relate to?  Tox needs to dig deep and figure out who he is, who he is not.  While trying to figure that out he needs to work with his team and work through his relationship with Haven.  Trying to find and stop the person responsible for the killings leads Tox and his team through history (figuratively) as they realize that a relic is controlling the person doing the killing.  The story takes you to the time of the Templar Knights, has Biblical History woven in and a military base along with a touch of romance.  Those varying aspects come together to create yet another incredible story.

Tox is back!

Action-packed from page one!! This novel picks up with Tox and his team a few months after the events in Conspiracy of Silence. Their time to rest comes quickly to an end when Tox is shot by a sniper. What is discovered is that shot was a message to Tox from Alec King, another Special Forces operator, that has gone rogue. This operator is on a mission of vengeance and Tox and team are tasked with tracking him down and stopping him! 

As readers have come to expect in a Ronie Kendig novel, what begins is an adventure full of military action, Biblical history, mysterious artifacts, just the right amount of romance, and more. It is apparent that Ms. Kendig has done extensive research for this series. As a wife of a retired Marine, I appreciate how well she portrays Tox's internal struggles as well. In Crown of Souls, readers get a glimpse into the battles Tox fights in his mind because of the missions he has been involved in the past and the guilt that he feels from the things he has been asked to do. Tox is going after what others are calling a madman, but Tox sees a lot of Alec King in himself. 

Although you could read this as a standalone novel, I would recommend reading Conspiracy of Silence first if you haven't already since this novel picks up where that one left off.

Action-packed

I was so happy to be allowed to be an advance reader for this book! I've been a fan of Ronie's since I was in my teens so being part of the advance team is a huge honor!!! 

As usual this is a military suspense story with lots of twists in the plot line. 
This series has an interesting addition with various historical artifacts (and the legends surrounding them) being a major part of the story. 
There's a touch of romance, a lot of action/adventure, a good bit of suspense, and even a character that regular readers will recognize but not expect in this book!!! 

All in all a great book that I've already recommended to several friends!
