great for everyday use

I am pleased with the way the waffle maker worked . The waffle cones turned out great.  I sprayed the plates with cooking oil between each waffle as indicated. But I wasn't happy with how the oil seeped out the back of the waffle maker making a mess on the counter.

I received an item that smelled of eggs and vanilla and had somebody else's batter spilled on the box, however it worked well even if it had been pre-used. I just assumed that I was buying a new never used item during this pandemic.

It works, however the way the top comes down onto the bottom doesn't make sense. When you put batter in it, the section near the hinge that connects the top and bottom is smashed unevenly because it doesn't close down flat. Instead the top closes down at an angle and ends up burning the portion in the back.

Top closes at an angle rather than flat.

Defective or Bad design?  Heating was not even causing burning on part of the waffle cone while other parts were raw.
