we've combed through too many toaster reviews, both personal and professional and, sheesh, you'd think it wouldn't be so hard to find a good enough toaster.  but it has been.  finally, we bought this one and are very pleased.  it toasts the long slices of bread we regularly use. there is enough room for a bagel. the browning is even.  it is so lightweight!  we are very happy and have only one suggestion: the dial is difficult to read.  the pointer is black on black.  i used a metallic silver sharpie to highlight the arrow/pointer and that helps.

Classic Long Slot toaster

The Long Slot Toaster is a great addition to my kitchen countertop. It takes a bit of finagling—testing out the settings, and such; meaning, sliced bread and sliced bagels are two separate settings. Therefore, I encourage patience and soon, you will get better acquainted with your toaster.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this long slot toaster to accommodate the frozen sourdough bread that we like to use. The toaster itself is a beautiful design and looks good on the counter. I like that our bread fits in the toaster nicely; however, I hoped that the toaster would toast a little better than it does. I'm not sure if it's the fact that I'm trying to toast frozen bread, but our sourdough does not brown the bread. If I dial it up, the crust with be black (too much heat). It's not perfect but I'm still pleased with the product.

Not perfect but good

This toaster does the job well.  The reason I gave it 4 stars is because it would be even better if there was an option to toast in only one slot, which I had on my previous long slot toaster.  Having both slots heat up is a waste of energy if I'm only toasting two slices of bread.

I love the retro look!

I purchased this for its sleek design and space saving qualities.  It does not disappoint.  As we always keep our toaster on the counter, the look is great, and we appreciate having a few extra inches of space.  This gets 4 stars because it is hard to see where the dial is set for doneness.  Not a huge deal because you can feel the pointer.  I might give it a touch of red fingernail polish.  Also, it'd be nice if you could use just one side rather than having both heat up.   This is our 2nd Cuisinart toaster.  The old 4-slot one still worked perfectly after 10 years of daily service, so it was given to a local charity.

Sleek and slim.

Looks and performs well, except toaster binds and doesn't eject toast.  Very frustrating to have to dig toast out.

Doesn't Eject toast.

I bought this to replace a wide 4 slice toaster. It was also Cuisinart.  This toaster is cheaply made, it works, but only toasts well on the outside of the slots.  Leaving you to watch and flip the bread. I wanted to save space but feel like I compromised on quality that Cuisinart usually is.

New Toaster

An extra long toaster with the power cord coming out of the front. The same lame design as the standard size toaster I'm replacing. How hard would it be to place the cord in the back?

Doesn't toast both sides evenly, not even close.
Flimsy, jerky mechanism for lowering bread for toasting, expect it would break or malfunction prematurely.
I do love the long slots but it would be nicer if slots were a bit deeper as well.
If it toasted evenly and the lowering mechanism wasn't flimsy and jerky, it wouldn't be that bad but for the price, it should at least toast both sides evenly and lowering bread smoothly.
