The right size for two people. Makes 1 pint so it makes it easy to try different recipes to find the one you like most. I have the 1.5 qt. model and like to use for family gatherings but is to much for just 2. This is a fun to use little machine, works great! I think is was a good investment. Would definitely recommend it!

fun little ice cream maker

Great little ice cream maker! Got this as a Christmas gift and have used it to make vanilla and chocolate ice creams, a strawberry dragonfruit sorbet, and a lemon sorbet. Very easy to use and clean , and makes just the right size of ice cream for us - about one pint. Looking forward to trying more ice creams and sorbets.

A one pint wonder!

I was skeptical that I'd be able to make tasty ice cream, especially with so few ingredients.  Take my word for it, this works.  Wish I'd bought a larger cuisinart ice cream maker- but good to know I can buy additional freezer bowls!  Love it.

I'm buying extra bowls- 😋

I had a large one (1.5qt), and loved it.  This one works OK, but not as good as the larger one.  I think it is because the paddle doesn't actually scrape the sides as closely as the larger model's paddle does, so the frozen part isn't getting incorporated into the mixture as well.  The soft serve result is therefore more liquid with the pint size.  The fully frozen result is fine after a few hours in the freezer, though denser and needs to thaw a little before serving. I have tried running the process a little longer, but the frozen device starts to defrost too much and that's counter-productive.  

FYI, I found out from Cuisinart that the container holds 1 3/4 cups of mixture to be frozen.  Many online recipes are made for 1.5 quart size so I just make 1/3 recipe and it has worked pretty well.

Good, but could be better

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Basically, this mini ice cream maker serves its purpose very well with easiest and simplest operations.  I would have given it a 5 star rating for the reason I just mentioned.  However, the design of this machine isn't well-thought for basically two reasons, namely the insecure cover and the difficult disassembly.  At the first 15-20 minutes of ice cream making process has no issue while the icecream-to-be still very soft.  As the ice cream making is closer to a completion, the vibration and the jerky movement the paddle is provoking unlock the cover easily.  With about 1/8 inch distance only from the unlock to lock withOUT a deeper/bigger notch.  The entire cover tends to flying around which can be dangerous and may quickly damage the machine, for the cover is not secure in place but twisted with up and down at different angles.  When the ice cream is done, with only ONE hand with two fingers both press down the white tabs while the other hand to pull is almost impossible.  A third hand is needed to HOLD the plastic transparent cover in order to pull the red motor out of the cover.

does the job making ice cream yet with bad design

This is an amazing little appliance.  My wife saw a different brand of ice cream maker on-line on sale.  But, it seemed overly complicated and had some issues with durability.  Anyway, we started looking at other brands and found the Cuisinart line.  They have good reviews and ratings.  When we found this 1 pint version for sale for less than half MSRP, we decided to try it without investing a lot of money.  Long story short, it makes the most delicious ice cream without all the artificial ingredients and other additives.  The Cuisinart recipes are very simple to make, with only a few ingredients.  We have even experimented with great results.  The only reason I did not give it 5 stars is that, unlike the larger models where ingredients are added through a hole in the top, this small one has a small funnel-like opening in the side.  It is not especially easy to add ingredients and some tend to collect there or around the top of the freezer bowl.  If you're looking for a counter-top electric ice cream maker, I heartily recommend the Cuisinart brand, just get one of the larger units.

A Surprisingly Good Little Ice Cream Maker

I got this ice cream maker so I could make healthier ice cream at home. I've had a hard time with it since the healthier ice cream doesn't have heavy whipping cream or whole milk so it really doesn't turn into ice cream at that point. If you follow their simple vanilla and chocolate recipes included, they do work though. It definitely makes more of a soft serve than actual ice cream.

Good if you follow the directions perfectly

Just received this and it's a lot smaller than I was expecting. I've only had a chance to use it once, but it didn't actually work in hardening into ice cream. I might've put too much in the bowl to be mixed, so I'm hoping that is the problem, otherwise I will be greatly disappointed!

It works great but I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong because the ice cream just isn't the right taste and has watery/icey texture. I'll keep playing with it for sure

Cute little machine

Was disappointed. Even with cold ingredients and freezer bowls frozen for several days, the mixture would not freeze. The machine works perfectly but no ice cream was made. We ended up just pouring the ice cream mixture into freezer containers and putting them directly into the freezer.

No ice cream

The ice cream maker didn't work. Shed I turned it on, the motor made a whirring sound, but did not turn the paddle. I tried several times to get it to work but nothing ever worked. I would have loved to see it operate!  I was looking forward to having a small ice cream maker.
