Can be quick and effective, but may be inconsistent or loud.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Mostly I use the steamer for vegetables, and it is excellent. It could not be simpler - the presets are quite accurate and the veggies come out steamed to perfection - retaining body and soft but not too soft - and no guesswork! I have the tray covered with vegetables and 10 minutes before the planned time to eat, you select the vegetable setting , push the dial to set it, and then start. No preheat, and clean up is fast. What a great product! It's a beautiful product, and used so often it's earned counter space. I am asked about it often, and highly recommend it!

Elegant steamer!

cuisinart.com

This is the best steamer that I have ever owned. I use this steamer for everything. My favorite thing to steam is seafood. I have been buying 10 dozen little neck clams and eating them with my wife. The clams that are left over are cooked and put in to a spicy marinara sauce. Love this steamer and highly recommended it!!!

Best Steamer Ever

I really love this steamer! My last one was a decades old steamer, made of plastics that probably weren't safe to eat from. Eventually, it started emitting black particles in the wasted steam-water, which really concerned me. At that point, I swore off steamers!

Until I found this one! Completely safe, no BPAs, the food doesn't touch anything plastic. The glass and stainless steel are excellent quality, and most of the parts can wash in the dishwasher.

I've only had ONE dish not work out. For some reason a brown rice recipe from the book said it would take 40 minutes… ended up goin and hour and a half and it still didn't finish. Maybe because I added peas? So I'll consider that was probably me messing with the recipe.

My only real complaint is the lack of electric steamer recipes out there in the world. When you google, you get general steamer basket or stovetop steamer recipes - not ones calibrated to using a machine with different settings like this. I think Cuisinart should invest in an actual cookbook (more than the 20 recipes you get in the box). I would buy it! I would literally pay extra money for it. I want to use this steamer a lot, but I don't want to waste money experimenting on my own with recipes that fail over and over. I want guidance on which settings and time and ingredients…. Or else maybe offer the info on what exactly is the difference between “Grain”, “Vegetable”, and “Seafood” settings? Is it a temp thing? Is one of them low? High? How can I adapt online non-electric steamer recipes for use on this machine if there is no explanation for what the machine's settings really mean?

But, all in all - worth it! I'd buy it again and I love the quality. Just wish there was a little more info or recipe resources.

Great quality, could use more info/resources.

My first Cuisinart steamer lasted 10 years until I dropped the water tank. I bought the exact model again because it was compact, easy to use and programmable for different functions.

Must have glass steamer for healthy cooking!

quality made and controls simple and easy to use. cleaning is a breeze too. Food is perfectly steamed per programmed selections or manual control. Pause and reheat options are an added plus.

Quality made and easy to use!

This glass steamer was a huge upgrade from the plastic one I've used for far too long. I feel better about cooking my food in glass, plus there is enough room to cook multiple food items and/or larger quantities.

Huge upgrade.

I chose this steamer to cook meals in a way that I feel is safer. Microwaves and air fryers are less safe for health. Steaming with clean water seems so much better. This unit is easy to operate, accurate and easily cleaner and set up.

Healthy alternative

I was surprised to find the steamer didn't have an automatic low water shut off at that price. Additionally, the water reservoir couldn't be filled without removing during cooking. Both features found in like priced machines. I was pleased with how it performed but did miss the advantage that might have been found in a double level steamer. I feel I relied too heavily on brand but also myself for not reading features more carefully.

Not what expected from Cuisinart

I have used this steamer several times. Two major concerns are the weight of the glass, if you are a senior. And secondly all my past steamers always kept the food hot for several minutes after it was finished cooking. Am also having a time to try and cook some frozen vegetables for when I set it at "vegetables" they are not done when I remove them.

Disappointed with two concerns

I bought this product several months ago. It stopped working after about a month; shutting itself off prematurely. I had to pay for shipping to receive a replacement. The replacement is working properly.

Steamer STM 100

Before I bought this item, I had experience with steaming food where the steam rose from water from the bottom up, surrounding the food with heated moisture. I did not realize that this process produced better results than the Cuisinart Steamer because it did not damage the food by blowing steam from above (that's not right). The control panel needs attention, too. It should be operative from left to right, not all over the place.

Redesign it, completely

Cuisinart Stainless Steel Cook Fresh Digital Glass Steamer front-facing view with 5 L glass cooking pot, brushed stainless steel control panel and LCD. Features 1 L removable water tank, 60-minute countdown timer and 1800W top-down steam system; also suitable for serving.
