I love this security camera and I don't know why anybody would rate it less than a 4.5.  The picture is great and it gives me a notification very quick.  I love the fact it can pan the room, but (yes there is a but, but it's so small it doesn't affect my rating). I wish there was an easier way to actually move the lens around to pan the room.  I always make the camera do a 360 when all I really want it to move it slightly one way or the other. 

I have 3 different dlink cameras in my home and out of the 3 this one is my favorite.  I like it so much I am buying one more unit this week!

Why would anybody rate it less than a 4.5?

Works great for home security when we're not home or when we're sleeping. It does run from a app and I've had absolutely no issues with it at all. I'd definitely recommend it.

I`ve had this Ip-camera since day one with no problems at all, except when trying to see subject further away then expected!

 I`d recommend this camera anytime! 

I when buying that you read the manual before trying to install as it states you need to download the Dlink app for you`re smart phone or even get a account!

as one customer stated he had to put it near his internet router!

Mine is setup close to the front door & its on average about 300 ft away from my router altogether...

Great Ipcamera

Runs via a website or local wifi, decent picture, but reliability sometimes an issue. Website issues, sometimes hardware needs  reboot. Pain in the butt with a light sleeping baby.

It's a camera.

Once you get them configured to your network and set for tracking they very reliably.  You should power off-on once a month.  There is a plug option that allows you power off the device to achieve this.  This is their way to allow you to remotely reset the device if it locks up.
Of concern is the company is changing the functionality of how the products run.  Mine as of March 3 will no longer email me video-images when triggered.  I bought this product for that reason, and now MYdlink mgmt is pulling this away.  I will likely need to buy new camera's to get this option back - and it will not be a MYdlink product.

Be careful which camera you select.

When i first bought the camera i was very impressed, Then shortly after was already having issues. The camera its self picks up alot, (when the camera works) although when you are trying to scroll by pushing the arrows to see everything the arrows half the time does not want to move, You are supposed to have access to see the cameras from your personal cell phone by downloading "My Dlink" The app never seems to want to stay connected

After hours and hours of trying to install and connect this "easy to use" in home camera I have gotten NO WHERE. The "helpful tips" are ZERO HELP. I am baffled that I spend $117 (with tax included) on a camera that will not even connect to my HIGH SPEED wireless internet. The FAQ section on dlink website and on the app is ALSO USELESS. Absolutely unacceptable to have a product that will ONLY connect via Ethernet cable to your wifi router. Can d-link please explain to me why ANYONE would put their in home security camera next to their internet router??? The app crashes, freezes, does not load and won't connect via wifi. Wouldn't even give this product 1 star. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME AND MONEY!!!!!!

DO NOT BUY!!!!!!!!!

I cannot connect to my DCS-5030L security camera to ‘mydlink' account, along with the ‘mydlink' app and other D-LINK apps (tried around 4). The problem is that I initiate it the sync when adding devices, and the DCS-5030L camera constantly crashes halfway.
The camera works, however not the way I want it too
-	Tried connecting through WPS
-	Tried using different connections, via wireless and hard wire
-	Made sure the firewalls are off on the PC
-	Tried different PCs
-	Tried different Web Browsers
-	Factory reset the camera, reset, hard booted it. More than once
-	Everything works fine, but it does not work the way I wanted too
My DCS-5020L works, but it does not have high resolution :(
