I bought this a few weeks ago for our Catahoula and Redbone Coonhound to take them off leash on trails and for overall reinforcement for training. It works incredibly well. One dog only needs vibrate stimulation while the other needs a little bit more of a tap. It's easy to toggle between collars to give them what they need. Purchase well worth it!

All I can say is: WHY didn't I do this sooner?! 
Fear of hurting my dogs, I suppose.  But that fear is disproven. What an amazing tool for teaching dogs boundaries at a distance! Generally, vibrate is enough to deter their attention, or a double buzz has come to mean 'return to me'. The adjustable shock feature is great, and is 100% successful at deterring attention. Within a few sessions use, behaviors I was struggling to correct were calmly in hand, and are continuing to improve even with no collar on. 
I bought 2 add-on's (in different colors to keep them straight) to my original collar. With the included instructions, it's very easy to program them. Note: each collar programs to the dot it originally set to, not the dot selected when you turn it on each time. 
I work in a fear-free veterinary practice, which of course promotes positive reinforcement training. While that has a lot of merits, a treat in my hand means nothing to my dog at 100 yards, but a buzz on their neck sure does. 
Also worth noting, my dogs (Keeshonden) have very thick coats. I have not met a breed with a longer thicker double coat. I did purchase the extended contacts but haven't installed them. When the collar is snug enough to stay securely in place, the contacts connect.

Why didn't I try this sooner?!

I bought this about a month ago and I couldn't wait to use it on my Cane Corso. She knows when she has it on because she doesn't bark as much. Fantastic collar all the way around.

Great collar! Lightweight design is comfortable for the dog, while the transmitter has multiple attractive features for both training and hunting. I was so impressed I purchased an additional collar for my son and his dog.

The RAPT 1400 collar is a fantastic training tool.  The transmitter fits your hand perfectly, which provides the user versatility and flexability.  The vibration feature allows the handler to quickly refocus the dog to the task at hand, rather than issuing a more harsh correction right away.  By doing this, your companion retriever can concentrate on his intense eagerness to please rather than performing simply to avoid correction.  This is just one more example of D.T. Systems doing exactly as they pride themselves on - "Bringing out the best!"

I recently bought the R.A.P.T. 1400 and absolutely love this collar. I have had no problems I or out of the field. This collar is great for controlling my young dog both in my yard and out on the prairie chasing roosters. It amazes me how long this unit can go without having to be sitting on the charger! This product is a must have for keeping a young dog or any dog for that matter within a safe distance.

I'm very satisfied with the R.A.P.T. 1400, the remote is very user friendly and I'm so happy to have a back of the hand setup. Battery life on the collar itself seems to be much improved over my previous models of collar. My one and only complaint is the collar itself is already starting to separate layers, fraying at the feed point and I've had to trim and tape twice in less than a month of use (my other collars took years for this to happen). Training is quite enjoyable with the ergonomics of the remote and the programmable quick button is definitely a nice touch. Deserves a 5 star review but can't give it that because of the actual collar falling apart

Love this collar

It's great, BUT I have an almost impossible time trying to get it to charge. I have to insert the plug into the collar just right, futz around with it for minutes while it starts and stops charging and then when it finally seems to “stick” set it down ever so gingerly. It takes me like half an hour to get it to start charging reliably. 
Other than that it's a handy device.

Tricky to get the charging to work

I purchased this unit a little more than a year ago.  The transmitter is well designed and easy to use.  The collar however is sub par.  First of all, the charging plug is placed too close to the collar itself and is very difficult to close and make a proper seal.  The collar itself is very long which causes undue wear.  The rubber coating is degraded and the interior of the collar is now exposed.  I would not purchase this unit due to the poor quality and design of the collar itself
