Great starter tool and one of the first things a mechanic should buy. I've had the this drill almost 4 years and it's been very durable. The grip feels great, it has plenty of power, and the battery still charges and holds its life well after years of use. The included bag is also durable and lasted about 2–3 years, which is solid. Overall, a reliable, powerful tool that's built to last.

This my second Dewalt cordless drill, my first one grew legs and walked away but this is a great drill and very dependable, thanks for creating such a great product.

Dependable drill

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this about 3 months ago, and I was really impressed with the gradual increase of speed on the trigger.  When the trigger is just barely depressed, the drill spins very slowly (around 30 RPM) yet is quite powerful in high-torque applications, which allows you to do delicate work without fear of stripping screws or bolt-heads.  Unlike other drivers with "hair-triggers" that speed up to the highest RPM with the slightest touch, the DeWalt is very careful about how slow/fast it spins depending on how much pressure is applied to the trigger, which is a HUGE plus for woodworking.  The hammerdrill setting also sets this drill/driver apart, rivaling the power of dedicated impact drivers, and the fact that this kit includes TWO batteries is just "icing on the cake."

Great torque, Responsive trigger

I dropped it in the lake this spring while putting in my pier in Michigan. Let it dry out 3 days, put the battery pack on and it made a humming sound. After a bit of horsing it, it fired up. 
Thanks Dewalt for making suck a durable product.

Went out and bought me the big kit of everything I would need. Every tool did awesome as did the bigger batteries. The single ah battery's drain crazy quick with small jobs but it's manageable. LOVE DEWALT TOOLS!

My partner only buys Dewalt drills and I use them all the time. He was in the construction business but is now retired. My dad died of alzheimerer last year after many years with this condition so I have been especially using his hand held drills for so many projects at my moms house. It's a simple tools but one that helps me wirh so many projects

My handheld  power drill in my Thor Hammer

I've used all the comparable models from the different manufactures. Hands down this brushless unit is a far better tool in all applications.I most of all like the small footprint of the tool and the ability to get into tight places. I only complaint with the kit are the small amperage batteries that come with it and the charger. Heavy applications the batteries run down quickly (should have been at least a 4Ah unit). the charger is a very basic unit and the indicator lights can be difficult to understand at first... There should be a solid "green" light when the batteries are charged, not a "red" one. Also, there is not a charge indicator on these smaller batteries to know what your charge level is, so you can go "blind" starting a project not knowing if the batteries require a charge before you start.

Better than ALL the rest

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I like this drill/driver when using the normal non-hammer mode; however, the reason I bought it was specifically for the hammer mode, which I have found to be rather underpowered/inefficient.  I bought this to drill holes in the brick siding of our house, and even drilling a small hole took a LONG time (like 20-30 minutes) and required me to lean all of my weight on the drill and brand new bit the entire time to get it to cut.  If I were to go back and buy it again just for the hammer function, then I'd buy a dedicated rotary hammer instead--that's the only reason I'm only giving this 3/5 stars and am saying I would not recommend it, as I don't see any reason it would be considered/purchased over a normal drill/driver beyond specifically for the hammer mode functionality.

Light weight, long battery life, but....

I bought this product 6 months ago and after charging the 2 batteries, I try to use them and the engine shuts down continuously as if the batteries (new) would already be dead.
