This is probably more of a occasional use tool for most, but when you need a pole saw nothing else will do.  This tool is priced well, and performs as expected.  I like that the oil fill cap does not recess into the tank, typically that is the case and when over filled the excess oil flows out. I have not seen the bar oil leakage when left in the reservoir over time. The bar has instructions on it explaining how to tighten the blade, its just a little thing that helps end users. I have used this tool for hours, it has done what I ask.  It is an odd tool to handle-it is a pole saw, weight and balance are ok; again IT is a pole saw.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I had several bushes that needed pruned.  I cut big bushes, 1-2" across and then tackled a 20' Mulberry tree which is real tough wood.  I cut 2 limbs off top which were approximately 3" each.  I then cut a notch and then cut it down; I measured the stump and it was 7.5" across.  I then cut 7 more Mulberry branches and still had lots more to cut.  It starts every time, where gas saws don't always.  This was all completed with same battery I started with.   I have a larger gas-powered poll saw with longer blade, but I didn't need to get it out.

All my cordless tools are Dewalt...even my tool boxes. This pole saw is very disappointing. Yes it runs, yes it cuts. But the leaking oil and floppy pole are an embarrassment to Dewalt's usual product design. Who designed it...a 5th grader?  Even putting the saw in a plastic bag oil still gets everywhere. I'm keeping it only because all my batteries are Dewalt. However, I'm sharing these concerns with other Dewalt users. It's such an aggravation to use and store because of the floppy pole and oil spillage.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] First Use having never used one or anything similar prior to.
I will say at full extension the aluminum is not as sturdy and a little more top heavy than expected, both easily manageable though.  Once it's up in the air, rest it on the branch to be cut and it's butter after that.
It did go through the bar oil, but no more than I expected based on previous chain saw experience.
What impressed me the most was the ease to which I was able to disassemble, clean and reassemble it, very very easy!

Rookie's Experience

I love dewalt products, but this is the worst attempt at a pole saw.  This saw has folded in half under its own weight 3 times.  I have the pole with the saw collared together and the pole with the trigger I have had to shorten.  I would stay clear of this tool.

The biggest disappointment

The product worked OK but the extension pole was not designed well. Became wobbly after a few uses. Had to reinforce, but still not good. Then less than a year of occasional use, the motor quit, just hear a click when turning on. I like Dewalt tools, have many, but this tool not good. Through it in the trash.

Bought mine late last summer.  Only used it about 3 times.  Suddenly just stopped working and will not run.  Pretty disappointed in it.  Should last longer than 3 uses.  Oh, and it leaks oil everywhere.

Bought the pole saw and never used it, then ater a year I wused it and made about 10 cuts, then the motor died.  Took to a Dewalt service center, they would chare almost the cost of a new one to repair it since it was a little over the 1 year warranty.  You can see from the picutre is was barely used.

DeWalt usually makes really good stuff. Drills, weed eater, chop saws...I have them all and they are great. This tool, is junk. It runs a little bit, then it stops (with a full battery). The bar screws are for an Allen wrench (which is included) but they stripped out the first time I had to take them off (nut would be better like on other chain saws). I would recommend you explore other options. That will save you money and a lot of frustration.
