Needed pilot holes before screwing them into place. Even though i only needed the 1/4 inch size, i chose this set because it also had a 1/2 inch one that i need for another project.

Great value %26 Quality

These drill bits do well in softwood like redwood.  Have used it in limited situations to enlarge holes in sheet metal.  Good value, but experienced one broken bit, one of the larger bits probably 5/16, but I may have fatigued the metal drilling about 40 holes in a butcher block countertop to provide jigsaw blade access.  One thing that might be an improvement is keeping all the bits the same length and maximizing bit length that fits in the case…thus would have been helpful when making pilot holes for longer screws like ledger structural screws.  Smaller bits do not have flats to prevent them from spinning in the chuck, would be nice to have.
