Weight: 102 The DEWALT DW735X 13-Inch, Three Knife, Two Speed Thickness Planer has a powerful 15 AMP, 20,000 RPM motor (10,000 RPM cutterhead speed) that handles larger cuts in wider materials with ease. The three knife cutter-head delivers 30% longer knife life and makes knife change faster and easier. The two speed gear box allows users to change feed speed to optimizing cuts per inch at 96 or 179 CPI. It has a fan-assisted chip ejection that vacuums chips off of the cutter-head and exhausts them out of the machine. With a 19-3/4" cast aluminum base it is 2X more rigid than a standard 10" base and folding tables. The automatic carriage lock reduces the movement that causes snipe without the need for manual engagement by the user. It also has a material removal gauge and extra-large thickness scale that deliver accurate cuts with every pass. The extra-large turret depth stop allows users to return to most frequently used thicknesses with ease. Includes extra set of knives, infeed and outfeed tables, and fastener attachments for the in/out feed table (attached to the base of the Planer base).

Bought this planer after much research. Being budget, space, and experience limited this planer with the stand has been fantastic. It is not cheap but good tools aren't cheap. This is one of those tool to get your foot in the door and once you see what's inside that door you're just going to want more. Just buy one and you'll enjoy it.

I ran across the planer on sale which included an extra set of knives, in/out tables and the roll around table. I've only used the planer a few times on walnut but it performed flawlessly, providing a very smooth surface and no snipe. I would not hesitate recommending this product.

Dewalt 735 Planet

This was recommended to me for woodworking, and I'm glad I got it. It has been a breeze to use, with great looking cuts on top that pretty much look perfectly finished. The dust blower is also excellent and with just a bag attached I haven't really needed an active vacuum to add to it. Would recommend this model over any other planer.

Clean Cuts, Clean shop

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Last year I got this machine as a birthday present. This is best machine  in my wood workshop. My friends also saw this machine and several people bought it. I will recommend this machine to my friends.

This planer is awesome for wood working

The Dewalt 735x is by far the best bench top planer I have used and in my opinion may be the best one on the market.   Leaves a great smooth and flat surface.   The chip extractor works so well that i do not need to attach dust collector - just use an dust bag.   Adjustments are simple and quick to make.  Definitely recommend

Best Bench Top Planer on the Market

Great planer. Ready right out of the box. Easy assembly. Well thought out and fit and finish is great. Biggest problem is chip extraction. It does such a good job, it is more powerful than a shop vac can handle. Solved the problem with a burlap bag on a discharge hose. Now there is no mess, and I am using it more and more. Finish is super smooth with no snipe, which cuts down on sanding and finishing time. Dewalt hit a home run with this planer. Heavy unit, (about 90 lbs,)would not call ii portable, but works great on a stand in my shop.

Outstanding machine!!!!!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I spent about a month doing research on a planer. While researching it cane down to price and features. And while this was significantly more expensive than other brands and even the other dewalt planer it was worth the investment. With that said, the planer was pretty much ready to go out of the box. The only thing I needed to do was attach the outfeed extenstion tables and make sure they're leveled with the planer.  The quick dial presets make it easy to preset a desire thickness for your piece. The crank system was a bit stiff but after several uses once the grease lubricated the gears it was smooth and easy to operate the thickness adjustment wheel. Feeding of the work piece is easy, although I did get a little bit of sniping, it's easy to compensate by feeding the boards at an angle rather than straight. This not only helps with the sniping but helps the planer use the blades evenly. It's a bit loud and ears, eyes and nose protection should be used. When the piece comes out it is smooth and is almost ready to glue. With two speeds to help you work your piece this is awesome. All I can say is I'm impressed as extremely satisfied with my investment. Wether you're a craftsman or a serious diy'er this tool is a must have for anyone who is serious about the quality and isn't willing to compromise with quality results.

Excellent value and great quality

First off, am a big fan of DeWalt products. Very disappointed, though, that planer arrived with cracked base - an issue that appears to have been known by the company for over a year now. And it is DeWalt's fault for not using better packaging on the bottom. This unit is heavy and the crack is right where the foam - which, by the way, is WAY too thin at the lowest point of the bottom half of the packaging component - was completely crushed to the point of compressing the inside of the corrugated box. Classic case of hidden damage because exterior was intact.

Yet another cracked base

I had to return the first one I bought because the height adjustment handle was near impossible to turn. I had to use two hands just to raise and lower the height of the planer. My friend has this exact planer and it was no where near that hard to turn. I just picked up planer number two and there was a large dent in the cast aluminum base and guess what the same issue with the height adjustment! Save your money and invest in a Jet, Rikon, Grizzly, Powermatic, pretty much any one but this one.

Not worth the money!

Got this today and the height knob would not turn. Took it apart and took chain off and adjusted all 4 gears to top of rod. Put chain back on and then had to adjust 3 rods so gear was parallel with top of rod. Now it turns with 2 fingers. Seems this is major problem with a lot of them.

Poor Height Adjustment.
