[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is a great little drone! Amazing how capable it is and how well and how easily it can fly both indoors and outdoors (in light wind or no wind). The clarity and quality of the camera is remarkable for a drone this small. It will definitely struggle in more than light winds but the camera will stay relatively level and smooth. It brakes a bit hard but again the camera gimbal can keep your footage smooth. For heavier wind I use my Air3s but at double or triple the cost I find myself using this little guy quite a bit. You don't get the near 45 minutes of battery in the Air3s but this will do enough to get the job done. I bought two more batteries…wish I had just gone and got the kit with more from the start but didn't know how well I would like the Flip. It's small enough to use indoors if you have to. I opted for the kit with the RC2 controller which is MUCH nicer and the same as my Air3s so I have a backup for that one as well. I would definitely buy this again and it does so well I returned the Neo without even opening it. I'd rather get another flip or another Air3s for the fleet. This is really a great starter drone you can fly inside or in your backyard to get used to flying. I recommend the virtual DJI simulator on the DJI fly app (free even if you don't own a drone yet) you can practice and get familiar with the controls and then when you get a drone with an RC2 controller you can use that same app to get hands on without wrecking your drone. I do highly recommend the insurance/replacement plans especially since you can't get the plan from DJI anymore (sadly). So Allstate, Statefarm, Assurion, or something. There are deductibles but it's better than losing the whole thing. Set your altitude and distance limits, make sure the drone sets its home point before you move too far away. Make sure it's got its gps signal. Unfold your antennas on the remote. Watch for wires and thin tree branches. Watch the drone mostly and not the screen until you want to take a picture or video. Practice flying a box pattern around like 4 cones you setup in your yard. Go to and from and from one to the next forward and back. You will get it quickly and these DJI drones make it easier then ever. The tech is amazing. We need our homegrown companies to catch up quickly. Perhaps with the ban now they have a chance. Don't be afraid to buy these despite the ban. It's a non-issue really right now. You can still buy and fly the current models and stock. Just no new imports of new drones and no coverage by DJI anymore for insurance but as stated above there are options. Enjoy! Fly safe! Get your Trust cert. you don't need to register the flip unless you add weight to it. If you want to get paid or make money flying get your FAA part 107 cert.
