I set the Danby Portable Air Conditioner into action for my bedroom 2 days after delivery.  It was just in time for another 'heat warning' here.  It was very effective for my bedroom, 93+ sq. ft.  But it is ineffective for the Living  area of kitchen, bathroom and hallway.

An air conditioner that does the job

The Danby 13000 BTU has proven to be a good machine to work with. It is intuitive, works well with atmospheric changes.  New owners should read instructions mindfully as it has a lot to offer. You could say it has a sophisticated operating system and well worth the time to take it all in.

Danby 13000 BTU is Sophisticated

Bought Media's air conditioner in the beginning, I dont know the reason but it sounds too noisy and we can hear some weird sounds as well. So we returned and bought this air conditioner. It is loud however quieter than Media one. And more fast to cool down the room. It doesn't effect other rooms but it is enough to cool down my bedroom in a few minutes. I love it.

Good so far

Noise = as loud as box fans we had and outside noise from having windows open so even in my book
Effectiveness = cools the room it's in great and lowers temp overall in other rooms reasonably in my 1100 sq ft condo.
Maintenance = haven't had it long enough but even after a week I haven't had to do anything
Setup = I almost threw the whole thing out the window trying to attach the hose to both ends be prepared…

Well worth the frustration and worth the sale price…

Very good AC

This unit will easily cool down my apartment to 20 degrees when it is around 25 degrees outside and the sun is shining through the windows. To keep it on constantly it is important to set the remote to turbo mode and I have found this really helpful so it doesn't keep switching off to only maintain the living room area. This ensures I can cool the 2 bedrooms off the hall as well. The issue I had is the set up does not work for a casement or crank out window and you'll have to create your own insulation system (I used insulation foam board and duct tape). Before buying the unit I knew this so I was prepared to set up my own system. Additionally, another thing I have noticed is also the unit is quite noisy. I can hear someone if there are next to me but if they are across the room speaking at a normal volume it is difficult to hear them. It's really noticeable when it is turned off how noisy the unit is.

Good unit, but loud

It felt like cool air was coming out but couldn't cool off the room.  It was in a smaller bedroom, I had more relief when I opened the window than I did using this.  I double checked the ventilation and everything and couldn't figure out the issue. JUNK!

Don't buy! Waste of money!

This unit is so noisy! Sounds like an old washing machine on the drain cycle. Pieces don't fit together well for the window connection. Had to use tape to make them fit properly. For the price we paid, and for being a good brand, we are so disappointed.

Don't recommend

It was never delivered. I was working from home when the delivery notification came and there was nothing there. I called Walmart immediately and then waited for a week for a call back to be told I'd have to file a police report- I told them I didn't believe it had been stolen and if they thought it had it's the sender's responsibility to do that. I even called the police and they said they're sick of these calls and Walmart is aware they are responsible. I also did not feel comfortable providing a false report since it was just never delivered and don't want my neighbours to be investigated or bothered because that's gross. Also, if it's the policy then why did it take a week to tell me it and why isn't it on their website.

Never got it and Walmart is gross

The window vent assembly is terrible and makes me want to return the entire thing. There's gaps all over that need to be taped, the hose is huge and is too big to actually fit snugly in the opening of the window vent due to it hitting the wall. 

Terrible terrible terrible design. 

Save yourself the frustration and get something different.
