We bought an older home with a finished, walkout basement that contained a bedroom, rec room, and large bathroom. Although the basement was a dry basement, it still felt slightly damp. I bought this 40-pint Danby dehumidifier to remove any moistness from the 900-sq ft basement. This was in late Sept. The humidifier has reduced the humidity from over 70% to as low as 40%. No more slight smell in the basement. The air is drier, it mo longer feels slightly damp, and we are very pleased with the performance of the Danby. It is very easy to operate. I empty it about once a day. We had a Danby a number of years ago that wasn't as easy to use as our new one.

Great results from Danby 40-pint dehumidifier

I have had this dehumidifier for a few weeks, and am very pleased with its performance. It removes humidity effectively from my basement and I find it to be quite quiet. The large capacity of the bucket is also a great feature, as it means that I empty the water from the dehumidifer  less often.

Very Pleased with this dehumidifier

Bought this to replace our old Danby 5 1/2 yr old dehumidifier, nothing wrong with the existing one just a backup in case it breaks down.  We did try this new one and were not disappointed.  It has the bucket to empty and all the bells and whistles, very quiet.  Happy with the price.

It's a workhorse

I'm very pleased with this dehumidifier; it is so quiet and efficient.  My downstairs family room is much more comfortable.  I'd certainly recommend it.  It's a good buy too; I wish it had been on sale but my old unit gave out and I couldn't wait for a sale.

Great Dehumidifier!

Using this in a crawl space which is about 500 sq feet and 2-3 feet high under the house. Working very well. Quickly reduced humidity from 65%to 55% in one day. Have purchased a little giant pump to eventually pump water into a drain pipe. Warm air blows out side rather than top which is good considering low ceiling.

It's been working for only two weeks. It is fairly quiet and it keeps my basement at 50% of humidity

Best for house Humidity control

Very quiet machine . 
They recommend not to use an extension cord on this machine . It's hard especially in some parts of my basement where there is not a lot of electrical plugs .

In a world where everything is disposable, I can only hope that this Danby appliance will be as reliable as my 2 other small refrigerator which have run flawlessly for the past 10 years. For now it does the job of removing excess humidity very quickly. I'm not thrilled though by the amount of buttons and lights that doesn't add anything but confusion

So far, so good

I bought this dehumidifier last month. It looks poorly calibrated and works almost continuously without filling the container with water. There is a 10 gap between the moisture level displays and my two hydrometers and that no matter the level adjusts. It is in my basement of less than 1500 square feet. I unplugged it for 20 minutes and left, but the problem persists. I contacted customer service and I am waiting for a solution. To follow
