I purchased this Danby unit to replace another make I had & failed shortly after the one year warranty expired. After six months of use the Danby is unit working perfectly & doing a great job that it was designed to do. It has a scroll compressor which is the latest trend & is very quiet. The fan noise is reasonable & a necessary part of all dehumidifiers. It has all the normal features of todays units such as electronic controls with timer, auto shut off with alarm when full, direct connection to a drain if needed. The design is good with a large air filter & roller castors for ease of moving around. I find the humidity control to be about 5% different from my table gauge but this is not a problem as you just set it where you feel comfortable. The electronic humidity control is a little too precise in my opinion as the cycle time from stopping to starting again is only about one minute or less. Not like the old manual controls which were more reliable & longer lasting. overall I do like this unit & would recommend it as good quality for the price paid.

Very happy with this unit.  Seems to be doing exactly what it was designed to do so we have no complaints.

Great Purchase

Efficient at removing moisture from a large volume space. The cycling and timer features and external drain option let me run it in my crawl space without much effort.

50 pint dehumidifier

Unit performs well overall. The water bucket is not the easiest to remove and reinstall. Also, the user manual is pretty minimalistic. Not much detail on strategy, unit placement, performance differences of the different cycle options, etc.

Dehumidifies well

The colour is more grey than black and the finish is a glossy plastic instead of matte. It runs with some fan noise but you get used to it; it's not loud. The power cord isn't very long so don't expect to be able to move it across a room, but the wheels on the bottom make it easy to reposition once plugged in. The water bucket is also easy to remove for quick emptying. (Follow all the instructions on the machine itself when you unpack it and note that it must stand upright for six hours before you can plug it in to use.)

Not exactly what I expected but it works!

I have experienced two dehumidifier failures during the warranty period. The refrigerant coils freeze-up at an ambient temperature of 65 to 72°F and a 50% RH. This happens when the system operates at a lower-than-normal pressure. The most likely cause is a refrigerant leak. The compressor sound is normal and the air flow is unrestricted, until freeze-up occurs. The 4-star rating is due to the excellent Product Support. Thank you Danby.

Product Quality Control Needs Improvement

So far after 2 weeks, it is working fine. Just FYI,
the water bucket is difficult to put back on the unit after being emptied. Thank you
