So far I have used this air conditoner 3 separate times. I was worried it wasn't enough btus for out place, but it was! Our whole 2 bedroom apartment is much cooler--coldest out in the living room where the air conditoner. So far well worth the price.

After a lot of research, I decided to go with Danby 6000 BTU. Set up was fairly easy. You will need two people.
The instructions were pretty neat and I referred to a couple of YouTube videos and was able to set it up in 30 minutes. 
As far as cooling goes, it's great for my master bedroom. I am facing west so I have a lot of heat in summers so hopefully this will cool my room down..

**The TL/DR version; whatever sq/ft the box/listing for an AC unit tells you is definitely influenced more by the manufacturers trying to convince you to buy bigger than you need than it is by the actual efficiency or cooling capacity of a given unit**


The vast majority of people, I suspect, rely on the information that's provided with an AC unit in making the decision of which size to go with. Example; a 6000 BTU unit is almost always listed for 350 sq/ft (300-400) of space. Apart from various specific circumstances (living somewhere extremely hot, home in direct sunlight with no shade, etc...) the numbers they tell you are WAY under what any reasonably well built AC can do. That said, I live about 90km NW of Ottawa, summer months sit in the 20-30*C range, with a couple weeks usually in excess of 30*C.

The image shows the layout of my apartment; the red marking is the window where I have my AC installed and the rooms/sizes are indicated. The PC space, kitchen, and stairs (it's a 2nd floor) are wide open, and the living room is connected by a door-sized opening. The good; airflow is decent. The bad; being connected to the kitchen and a wide-open stairwell. Regardless, I have my unit set almost always at 21*C, mostly because this is the lowest temp I can set it to and have the power-saver function actually work (as in, it reaches the correct ambient temp for the unit to shut off for awhile). 

I've been here about 5 years, the AC has lived in that window for the last 3, and it does the job perfectly. I keep the bathroom and bedroom doors closed, and if I'm going to be away from home a few hours I set the timers to shut it off and turn it back on 45 minutes or so before I get back. I have a tower fan that I use to blow into either bedroom or living room (as needed), but normally the living room doesn't need it.

All told, the area that the unit has to keep cool on a regular basis is about 550 square feet...considerably more than the 350 it's "rated" for, and it does the job without even having to be set to the lowest temp, highest fan speeds, etc... Also, I should probably mention that I'm very much NOT a fan of the heat. I worked in a meat fridge (in a t-shirt) for 7 years with zero discomfort. Conversely, once it gets up past 20*C my discomfort decreases rapidly. 30+ and I get cussed out for wishing the return of winter.... The point being; I very much prefer it to be cool (if not outright cold) which is, I think, important to the review....

Don't be fooled by the numbers!

I purchased a 10K BTU window air conditioner earlier this year and am very pleased with it, so when I needed to replace a smaller window air conditioner I did not consider any other brand.  It is well built, performs well and has a 2 year warranty.

Very satisfied.

Works great for my living room, only complaint it is a bit noisy but the could be our fault. Not sure the person who installed it did the best job. lol Simple installation though and gets nice and cool!

Great little A/C

The fan appears to be scrapping against the styrofoam at the beginning of the spin and then when it is up to speed, the scrapping stops.

Could be better

This thing is loud, and not your normal fan or cooling loud.
This is rattling and whirling loud.
There are better ACs out there.
