Quiet dehumidifier

I purchased this dehumidifier to replace a Midea that broke after the warranty expired. So far I am impressed with the Danby. It runs quietly and has a hydrometer that stops the unit when the humidity reaches the level that you set. I have it set to 35 and it is down to 37 from 48 after three or four hours of running.

Great dehumidifier!

Excellent dehumidifier. Set up was easy. In the first 12 hrs running at low fan speed it removed over 5 gallons of moisture. Living in Florida with higher humidity this is a must have. When we get a cold spell like we are now and temps drop to the 40's at night and high humidity our windows get condensation on them and we have to dry the off every morning. Set the thing up at 5 pm last night and it was full at 6 am and no condensation on the windows even though it dropped to 41 degrees and 90% humidity. Inside humidity went from 70% to 50% which what I set if to. Great machine and very quiet.

A must have dehumidifier in humid climates.

Danby Dehumidifier was great for my basement to keep space dry. It is durable and very quiet.

It worths the money.

Initial thoughts on the Danby 40 Pint Dehumidifier DDR040EBWDB.
  
The dehumidifier arrived in good condition thanks to its robust packaging.  Unpacking the dehumidifier and all the included items is pretty straight forward.  All included items, other than the clear plastic drain tubing and documentation, are in the water bucket.  Note that there is also a continuous drain connector in the bucket, and because it is small and white it could be easily missed.

The manual says to let it stand upright for a minimum of 6 hours before initial start up, which is important to its overall longevity.  Given that mine was shipped on its side, I waited for 24 hours just to be safe.  It would be nice if shippers would pay closer attention to appliances that rely on refrigeration coils.

Initial start up went well, with the system starting in the default setting of 50% humidity and on low fan.  The unit is not the quietest that I have ever had but depending on where you have it set up, mine is in an unfinished basement and on high, it is acceptable.  Setting it to the low fan speed will probably work for most people, unless you need to dehumidify a very damp space.  Mine space is not damp and has been running for just over 24 hours, in which time the humidity has gone from 67% to 53%.  

Overall, I give this dehumidifier 4 stars based on fit and finish and ease of operation and take away one star for the noise level.

Pretty decent dehumidifier

Just received the new 40 pint dehumidifier and it functioning correctly.  It does seem slightly louder than my previous Toshiba DH but that one only lasted 1.5 years. Easy to setup and start using, I will be buying a slightly longer drain tube... dont plan to use the bucket.  Hopefully I can get 5 years out of this device!

Procure only lasts about 2 years. Worked great when it worked but stopped working just after the 2 year mark.

Buy the next generation

Disappointed.   I have this new (somewhat expensive) 40 pint dehumidifier in the 600sq ft. basement.  It has been running for 5 days non-stop (direct to drain) and has not been able to reduce the humidity level below 46% (set at 40).  It's May, so I know this won't do the trick in July in NJ.  Not recommended.
