The wood is almost more like a resin, it isn't partical board. I never got the chance to assemble, as one of the parts had snapped in shipping. I reached out to Danya B, and they're sending me a replacement part. This should be a wonderful shelf. I am planning on adding some L brackets to upgrade the mounting hardware a bit

Should be a wonderful shelf!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Perfect size for what I needed. Had one square inside not line up well but was able to make it work. I'm really happy with it, it fits under ledge of island so had little room but it holds all my cookbooks

I love the design and it looks great in my son's bedroom. However, to put the shelf up after building it was a little bit of a challenge.

Nice but difficult to put up

My shelf came with the screw holes incorrectly placed. It was impossible to assemble so that the veneer surfaces were all facing the same side. So, I have an assembled shelf with some veneer showing and some particle board showing, which is not what is intended. Rather than send it back, I'm just going to spray paint the entire shelf.

Screw holes drilled in incorrect locations

Danya B XF151012OK Large Rectangular Shelf Unit - Weathered Oak floating wall display shelf with staggered open compartments, front-facing rectangular silhouette in weathered oak laminate finish, five visible shelves with two central cubby openings for books, plants and frames; often used to display small planters or collectibles.
