This is the 2nd air dryer I have bought for my basement.  The first one worked so well, I decided to buy a 2nd to put in another section of my basement.  I have been dealing with moisture and mildew in my basement for years.  This is the first product I have bought that really works.  The musty smell has gone and I'm seeing much less mold and mildew.  I highly recomment this product.

I live in the mountains of Western North Carolina, very high humidity, mold and mildew. This unit has stopped this condition in my closets. This is my third unit - I have two unites in a very large closet and one in a smaller one. Very happy with the Davis 1458 Air-Dryer 1000.

I was skeptical as to if this would actually work as described but since it was about half price here compared to other places I decided to give it a try. In the winter months my side enclosed side porch approximately 8 feet by 5 feet tends to get condensation on the glass goor panes and sometimes on very cold nights the door freezes. I put this unit in the porch for a couple weeks and I was pleasantly surprised there was zero condensation on the windows. I actually works by a simple heating element. I purchased a second one for my camper. It is quiet and just set it and forget it, it does what it says. I highly recommend it.

Good product

Keeps the air dry and work very well.  I have only had this for 2 months but it is working well.   Once you have it located in the area you need, plug it into the power outlet and walk away. Easy and you are done.

Good Product but a little expensive.

Does what it is supposed to do. I have 3 of them, one for the basement, one for the RV and one for the boat in the winter. Best price was with Walmart. Savings was considerable so shop around.

Davis 1458 Air-Dryr 1000

We use this on our 25' sailboat while it's sitting in its slip at our marina.  We live in the Pacific Northwest, so while it doesn't rain constantly as people seem to think, it's frequently misting and light rain.  The ambient heat only needs to be a bit above the dew point to prevent condensation in our boat, and this does the job nicely.  

It is vulnerable to being struck on the top (our dog put his paws through it coming down the accommodation ladder), however, I believe age had something to do with that as our previous one was probably close to 8 years old.

While I worry about the heating element inside the heater running 24/7 while I'm not there, I've never seen any evidence of it overheating.  There are no moving parts, it works by convection drawing cooler air in at the bottom and expelling warmer air through the vents on the top with no fan so there's less to go wrong.

We use a similar Davis product that does have a fan in our ancient car that has old leaky seals to help keep it dry on inside, but we pay a lot more attention to that one than the one I'm reviewing, plus it's in our driveway instead of 20+ miles away in the marina.

This is makes pretty good boat heater

Not sure about company. This item over $50 creates some heat to circulate the air. I attempted to contact the company with a question and believe the company might no longer be in existence.  It is simply a mild heater at 130 watts. That's all it is.
