My favourite dish detergent. It cuts right through the grease while staying gentle on my hands and skin. I also stick with this brand because it's known to help animals in oil spills and they often donate to these causes. I love animals, so I do what I can to help and purchasing Dawn is a good consistent way to start.

DAWN DISHWASHING LIQUID

Buyers beware. This "Original Scent" has been changed and has been replaced with an incredibly, overpowering perfume-like flowery scent. If you're sensitive to smells, it is headache inducing. It also lingers on dishes as well as hands. Utterly disappointed to buy a jug of this only to find Dawn secretly changed the scent yet still labels it "original".

Scent change!

The smell of it is horrible while using it and stays on my hands after rinsing. I need to wash my hands with another soap to get rid of the Dawn scent. Why did you change it? I've used dawn happily for decades, but am looking for an alternative. ANY ALTERNATIVE!

PUTRID, NASTY SMELL

dawn-dish.com

I've been buying Dawn my whole life and I hate the new scent. It smells awful and the scent stays on your hands and on dishes. I do not want scented food. The unscented is not in stores I shop in and I am not ordering dish soap by mail. I will be switching to something else.

New scents are awful

I've been using Dawn for a lifetime. So I was excited to see something new in this EZ Squeeze bottle
I don't mind the smell I hope it doesn't add extra chemicals though. But I absolutely hate the bottle. It is so big, heavy and clumsy. I think you would need giant size hands to turn it over and squeeze with one hand I have to do it two handed I can't hold a sponge and just squeeze a little dawn on it. I will never buy this product again although I will buy Dawn in the old containers

Really HATE the new EZ-SQUEEZE bottle!

Ever since early 2024 Dawn dish soap has been all wrong. Suddenly out of nowhere your company just decided to change the formula and no one even asked for this at all. Brought home the updated dish soap and it was an absolute disaster. Horrible smell and burning irritated hands and my sinuses were inflamed. I quickly threw it away and switched to another dish soap. About 1 year later I bought it again just to see if you changed anything and you did and it seemed to have another kind of smell but this time the smell was like a really strong perfume smell that lingers on your hands for hours and makes the pots, dishes, plastic containers smell very strongly of cheap perfume for days. I then threw that bottle away and noticed many other people on the website here complained of similar things. This past week as of June 2026 I bought it again to test it and it absolutely smells terrible. The smell reminds of overly strong carpet freshener or some really cheap shampoo and I hate it. I tried doing dishes with it and I couldn't. The smell made me angry. What is wrong with your company????? For years over the decades the smell of dawn dish soap was apart of American households. The original smell was classic and everyone loved it and it was a big part of washing the dishes. You even would wash ducks with it and they liked it. Something really changed in early 2024 when your company thought it was alright to destroy a perfectly good product. I personally have moved on from your product I now wash my dishes with Seventh Generation dish soap and it's wonderful and I don't need your lousy dish soap anymore. I can only imagine how many other customers have abandoned your product and I don't think you can ever get lots of your customer base back. Everything you make now smells like a joke and your company is a joke too.

What was wrong with the dawn classic smell???

I hadn't used Dawn in several years and recently got a bottle of Dawn Ultra. I was surprised that the fragrance had changed to a sickening perfume odor. I can't stand it and will either give my bottle away or dump it down the drain. And, I will never buy Dawn again.

Sickening, overpowering perfume odor.

It pours to much out at a time. You do not need that much to do dishes. My husband uses it for his greasy hands when he works on cars and completely agrees it wastes the soap. Although that's good for the company because you have to buy more often.

Pours to much

The new scent is horrible. It scent lingers and dishes and cannot be rinsed off. I can no longer buy this product. Dawn has stated that they are making & selling the original scent dawn again under another name. But where is this on their website??

Awful New Scent

Hate the new formulation and the scent is too strong. The new formulation does not work as well. Dishes are still greasy. Have to wash twice to get them clean. You have to use more product and really hot water to get greasy dishes clean! The scent leaves a terrible residual smell!

Bring back the classic Dawn
