I just got this machine 1 month ago.  No issues so far. I had a fully automatic machine before and this one is fully manual.  So, although I loved the automatic one, this allows for customization which has opened a whole new world of coffee options to me.  I have rated it 4 stars because the coffee is exceptional and the froth is great.  It is easy to use once you get the hang of it.

My 3rd DeLonghi espresso machine, after the second one lasted 7 years... it heats the water in 90 seconds and brews just as quickly, fits nicely in my limited space, shiny stainless steel and beautiful. My perfect cup is back... to start my perfect day! 😮‍💨

Just got back from travelling in Italy. First thing I had to do when I got back was buy an espresso/cappuccino machine!!! Inexpensive and simple. That's what worked wherever we went. I don't think it's the best practice to review a product right after purchase. I have regretted it in the past. So my fair assessment is… it arrived as advertised. It performs as required and expected. I can't comment on the long term quality. It's too soon. But Walmart asked me to review right away.  Practice makes perfect, and the simplicity of the machine leaves it to me to apply the artistry. Did I get the perfect coffee on the first try? No. But it didn't take long. But I saved $1000 over buying a machine with a lot of bells and whistles that will also make a good coffee. And I saved about 20% by buying from Walmart over buying the same machine from somewhere else. And I got free same day delivery!  So yeah, 5 stars.

Good so far

I am very happy with this machine. The quality of the coffee well exceeds that of the Keurig I had before, and the price difference is not that much. I've used the machine fora few weeks and so far it works well, is easy to maintain for everyday cleanup, and is easy enough to use. I'm happy with this purchase.

Very happy with this machine

On my machine, the espresso comes out scalding hot with a nice taste and nice crema.  I usually run an empty (just water) shot first to heat up the portafilter, and I find it helps make a better coffee.  A few flaws though:
- The portafilter is very stiff to attach, hard to get into place and remove. It gets a little easier after it heats up but still, far too stiff.
- The machine is *very* light.  You need to hold it firmly with 1 hand to attach/remove the portafilter.
- No auto power-off. You had better remember to turn it off yourself, or it will be heating for an eternity. Seriously?

As far as entry-level machines go, I'm happy with it, but the auto power-off should be standard on all appliances.

Coffee is lukewarm... and not able to adjust the temperature

This is the fourth espresso machine brand I've tried, and ironically it's the most famous one yet the most disappointing, as I need to return it. It doesn't seem to heat the water enough, the coffee comes out lukewarm and almost tasteless. Unlike other espresso machines where you need to be careful not to burn your mouth, with this one I actually had to microwave the coffee. I even tried running it with a single-shot amount of water, and it was still watery.

Another problem appeared immediately. The portafilter came with a basket inside it that looked larger than a double shot, which I liked because I often make two coffees to go. But when I used it, all the water and steam stayed trapped inside the portafilter. Nothing came out, and it became almost impossible to remove the portafilter. I tried multiple times, even with no coffee in it, and the same thing happened. The other baskets work, which tells me there's likely an issue with the machine if one basket works and one doesn't.

The funny part is that I replaced my previous espresso machine for the same issue but that happened after a year of use, not on the very first day. I saw another De'Longhi model that was $100 cheaper, but I didn't trust buying it, unfortunately this one wasn't any better and I also purchased two year protection plan which was useless.

Not Recommend it

Plastic shavings from the drilling manufacturing process are all over the water intake ports. This has occurred on 3 different units. One purchased from the store and two online. I had to waste time not only to return the unit to the store but go back and fight for a credit on the return unit that was never issued because associates never completed the return appropriately. Online chat proved to be a disaster as god only knows what they are doing, which is totally not what they tell you they are doing. This unit is drastically reduced for all the wrong reasons. I had 2 units that emptied the content of the water container due to manufacturing debris littering the unit.

One item had shipped on the 12th but was never picked up. It took until the 18th for them to acknowledge there was a problem. The Walmart logistics is a nightmare that wastes your time and energy for days.

Machine failed after 5 Days and delonghi customer service won't help at all, need to return it... waste of time

Cheap coffee machine

Took it back.  It shot coffee grinds all over my kitchen.  Water kept coming out after I turned it off. So I got a breville I love that espresso machine soooo much more

Don't buy not great at all.
