Dissect-It Salamander Lab is a synthetic salamander dissection kit that provides users the experience of salamander dissection without the use of a real salamander. The highlight of the product is the proprietary new gelatin material that gives the frog its form as well as a cool “slimey” feeling. The gelatin is solid yet cuts like butter so it’s completely child safe and biodegradable too. This new material sets Dissect-It STEM Kits apart from other dissection toys since as it gives the user a more realistic dissection experience. But wait there’s more! Each kit comes with a comprehensive dissection manual, which guides the users through the dissection process and provides tons of fun facts and information about each part of the salamander’s internal structure; as well as a dissection table, a set of plastic tools, and two salamander refill kits to allow for multiple dissections.

One complaint I have is that the gel material smells pretty bad and is strong enough to make me a little concerned. I'd still buy it again and love that my son is learning about anatomy and practicing fine motor skills.
