They are easy to unwrap to sharpen the pencil. They are made of great quality. Overall they are a great value and I highly recommend these pencils for drawing.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] These charcoal pencils are just want I needed. They're bold and smooth. The wrapping is sometimes a little difficult to remove, but I feel It's a lot more convenient than having  to always sharpen the pencil. I've used these pencil for smearing, smudging, shading, wet and just good old fashion drawing.  They're definitely my favorite charcoal pencils and I always carry some with me since sharpening is not required.

He says they are comfortable in his hand and they are very smooth drawing.  Abdolutely love seeing him doodling again!  Kudos on an amazing product!

It's easy to achieve a spectrum of different shades and great detail with these pencils. They work very well on

Great Quality

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] These medium charcoal pencils have everything I need for sketching. They draw very smoothly and don't leave behind specks that flake off while drawing. They are easy to sharpen as they are self sharpening, just pull the little string to expose more lead, no need for messy pencil sharpeners. And when blended correctly, they blend flawlessly and smoothly. I like the way the paper wrapping feels in my hand while sketching, it seems sturdier than traditional pencils. I honestly do not think I will ever go back to using any other type of pencil to sketch with.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] These soft Prang charcoal pencils have a much darker and richer black color than any other charcoal pencils I've tried!  The ease of the paper wrap as opposed to the kind you have to sharpen is amazing!!  These pencils are good for any stage of artistry - beginners through to experienced artists!  Some brands seem to have a hard, stiff feel to the charcoal, however I was presently surprised with these. 
These have a softer smooth feel to them.

Very nice

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I got a  pack of the Prang Charcoal Pencils - Paper Wrapped- Soft - 12ct.  They are easy to peel just pull the string and you get more charcoal.  I like the way they draw and feel, but my daughter the art student did not like the way they blend. I think they are fine for most drawings and art but, she thought they did blend well.  Our family will still draw with them though.  I think they are good quality Pencils.  And I am enjoying them.

Great for beginner artists

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] These Prang/Ticnderoga charcoal pencils can be used to create a variety of effects and are perfect for doing their job: drawing and shading. I also found them easy to sharpen with a razor blade of sand paper. These pencils are much better than other brands I've tried in regards to feel and performance, however; they do have some slight issues. They are a bit more brittle and flaky/chalky than I'm used to, even for charcoal, and the paper wrapping doesn't peel off cleanly on; I have to restart it more times than not which can be inconvenient. That wasn't the case with all the pencils in the package so it seems to be a preforation issue that is hit or miss. That being said,  I do highly recommend these charcoal pencils as they provide great levels of shading and lend themselves easily to a variety of shading effects and techniques! They may take a tiny bit of getting used to a first though.

Amazing to draw with

Recent purchase of Orange soft wrapped charcoal pencils in a box. Each one I've used thus far shatters when used to render tone. Very disappointing.
