I purchased this magnifier for my model building hobby. I originally had a lighted magnification unit that clamped to the workbench. The clamp cracked and could no longer support the unit so I decided to purchase the binocular magnifier instead. The magnifier is solidly constructed and fits comfortably to one's head. The issue I had is that the magnifier (up to 6") was not easily adjustable like a lighted magnification unit. Certainly you can move the piece you are working on closer to you but then you lose all flexibility in moving pieces to multiple distances. If I had several lenses with different magnification strengths I may have found this product more useful. The one I purchased had a magnification strength only up to 6". I suggest purchasing a #4 lens plate for model building.
