Love the desk, but it comes in a million pieces and you have to assemble. Three of the boards were broken when we received ours. I called the customer service number listed on the instruction manual and they were extremely helpful and sent out new parts. Once the desk was put together it seems sturdy and looks great.

I'm sitting at this desk as i write this review.  It solid.  Nothing fancy.  It would be better if they had shelves inside the 2 large empty cabinets.  The worst part is lining up the drawers on the right side is complicated and the file cabinet drawer does not slide well.  I wrote customer service and they said "Try to lubricate it".  Duh!  I was asking for some adjustment.  It's brand new and lubricated at the factory.  But I'll try some oil.  I give it for stars because it's good value for the price I paid.

Four stars

Came in damaged TWICE. So had to call a separate company for replacement parts. Even then still had to use a black furniture marker to touch up a few little nicks. chips easily but from afar looks nice and can hold a lot including our big apple computer tower (in left cabinet) and a ton of files in right bottom drawer.

Functional yes but not good quality at all

Good looking desk, keyboard tray only big enough for keyboard, not mouse.

Item came damaged.

Packaging must be torn to open, which makes returns a hassle.

Good desk for price.

Top of desk arrived with a large gouge in the front.  Did not see it until we were halfway through assembly.  Please check all parts as you empty the box.  It took several hours to assemble.  Lots of screws and individual parts with fair instruction manual.

Damaged and time consuming

I'd like to give this desk a better rating but so far I have not been impressed.  When the desk was delivered there were several pieces of hardware missing.  I requested a complete hardware packet online.  After almost two weeks I received the hardware packet but it was missing more pieces than the first packet.  I called to order the missing screws and finally received them.  When I finally started to put the desk together I realized there was damage to 3 pieces of wood, including the top of the desk.  Since I had already waited so long to put the desk together and because I really wanted to get my office back in order I decided to keep the desk with the damaged wood.  Despite the cosmetic damage, the desk seems to be solid and should meet my needs.  But, the next time I buy furniture it won't be from this manufacturer.

Damaged wood and missing hardware

My first shipment was horrible! We opened the box to find 8 pieces broken and chipped and scratched. It was horrible! We had to call and get a replacement shipped and go thru both boxes to piece together one good desk!! And then have FedEx come back and pick up the huge heavy box to be shipped back. It was a long and aggravating process to get the desk that we were suppose to have. And when putting it together the good pieces didn't have all the holes drilled all the way thru the wood. My husband had to re-drill a lot of the holes to be able to put the desk together.  The finished product is nice but, there were some pieces that still had some scratches in the wood. All in all, I read the previous reviews and see other people say about getting broken and damaged pieces and I thought, there is no way that it could be that bad! Let me tell you that it was. I don't think that I will ever order furniture online again!

After 2 shipments we may have gotten it right!

Desk looks nice for price, but came slightly damaged (wood was already chipped off where one of the bigger screws are), and there is some paint worn off on the right drawer. Additionally, a larger screw was in one of the bags with smaller screws, so I was one small screw short. Not the end of the world. For the price I paid and how heavy it was, it would be too much of a pain in the butt to try and return for a different desk that's not damaged, so I'll just keep it. Did take about 4 to 4.5 hours to assemble alone. Not a bad desk if you're looking for something cheap, that you won't keep too long. Looks nice, but I predict it will show wear and tear quickly. Bummed that mine came damaged, but it's kind of luck of the draw when you buy something cheaply made.

Came damaged, too heavy to return

I wasn't expecting high end quality for $120, but this desk looks like it cost $40! Both ends of the desk top were damaged, parts were broken, hinges were bent, and there were scratches all over the desk! The photo shows a solid black desk, but in reality it has white marbled veining that looks terrible!! The only thing that can be said for the desk is that it is heavy!!  Save your money and skip buying this desk!

Better homes and gardens black desk

I was expecting a desk from Better Homes to be more of a solid wood structure. It's all that particle board garbage and the black color finish looks horrible. It looks like it has scratches all over. I think its to cover up the real scratches. I had many pieces that had big scratches or other damage to it. They're sending me new parts but still I have never had this bad of a "put it together yourself" product.

Not what I was expecting!

End product turned out great, very happy. Directions for assembly were very clear and did in a systematic way.  Only problem was upon unloading the parts I had some of the panels damaged. I contacted the company according to instructions and told them of the problems that I had due to packing and shipping handling. They took the numbers of the damaged parts and sent out the replacement pieces the same day. I received the new parts within 5 days.  The finished desk looks great and we are very pleased.
