[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Wow! What an excellent game! Beat 'em ups are one of those genres that needs to have tight control or else you can't pull off fast combos and start dying repeatedly. Luckily, this game isn't like that at all. Every time I push a button, the animation is very responsive. I have played the older series, but you can't "feel" each punch or kick. The animation is pixel-art and looks great on the Nintendo Switch 2.

There were some parts in the game that I didn't know what to do to progress. I needed to jump on top of the cars and proceed right, but every time I did, I would just fall off the cars. Well, it was partly my fault because you had to do a special roll and jump. I wish it had a clear "Go" direction, or some hint to tell me what to do.

If you like arcade games, this is for you. It even has a coin currency (not real money) that you can use to continue, many replay modes to complete the game 100%, and is quick and easy to learn. The Double Dragon franchise has been blessing us with new games, such as the latest installment, Double Dragon Revive. Rise of the Dragons is a love letter to the 8-bit era, with simplistic, yet addictive gameplay, modern touches, and just a lot of game content for a reasonable price.
