I've used this brand for almost ten years now (just bought my third ionic toothbrush) and haven't a sign of plaque in all that time.

Dr. Tung's: Toothbrush Ionic System

Hard to tell if it's working because it's silent, and the instructions are minimal. But if you search on "soladey instructions" you'll find a detailed PDF. The Soladey brush generates ions differently than Tung's but same concept.

The Soladey instructions recommend:  1) Brush tongue first to remove acids and bacteria, 2) Have plenty of saliva/water in your mouth to generate ions, 3) Instead of using force, just hold brush against the teeth and get the bristles between teeth to release placque,.

After 1 week of use, I seem to have fewer stains between teeth, and small gaps between teeth seem to be placque-free. I use the Tung's for a couple of minutes, then use a Sonicare while my saliva is still ionized.  That's the only way I get the "smooth slippery" tooth feel that others talk about.

Needs better instructions but seems to be working

I will likely give the toothbrush  5 stars but it's too soon after purchase to know for sure. Be aware there are no moving parts. I use it in conjunction with my Sonic toothbrush, which I've used for years, and together they provide a fantastic teeth cleaning.
