This bit drilled 112 holes thru oyster shells and is still able to drill more.  If you drill dry you will dull/ruin the bit!  The shells are hard - each hole took 30-40 seconds. I placed a sponge in a bread pan and covered with water. The sponge held the shell from slipping. The area of the hole was slightly underwater which lubed bit and kept it cool … essential!  Let the bit cut - don't press too hard. The bit did not come with drilling fluid like shown above.  Be smart with the tool and water and you'll be fine.

Nice to have

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have bought this bit several times to cut through sea glass for jewelry. If I have to make a larger hole I create several small holes then cut out between them. It gives it a unique look.

Works great

I have used this Dremel 662DR 1/8" Glass Drill Bit with Cutting Oil a lot. I have gone through several my self. I have found that they are not all the same. One bit i used drilled at least 40 holes before I had to replace it. Another half that. I did most of my drilling in a container of water. I laid my glass piece on a small block of wood in a container and filled it with water high enough to cover the piece of glass so when I drilled the bit was in the water as well. That seemed to work best for me. I also noticed that it depended on what kind of glass I was drilling through as to how long the bit would last. Not all glass is created equal. Walmart is also the cheapest place to find this bit but they don't carry it in my store so I have to order on line which I hate to do.  SO that is why I gave this bit 4 stars.

I slumped some glass jars and drilled holes in them this afternoon. I was able to drill 12 1/2 holes before changing the bit. using my cordless Dremel tool, I created a cut in the glass for the hole, I held my drill at straight up and submerged each of the pieces into water and drilled through one piece at a time to finish.

After doing research, I found that this was the bit I needed to drill glass. It was much more expensive than others I found. I figured a quality name would have a quality bit. I was able to drill 3 holes, after that, it was completely worn out and unable to use again. I read all instructions and used bit as instructed but still wore out.

Very disappointed!

REALLY expensive for only drilling a single hole through 1/4" of glass. It was already completely worn down after that.

purchased this to go with my 8220 and it wore down after 1 hole , i thought the price was high and assumed i was paying for quality
