[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I've had the older model for over 2 years and loved it! This newer, improved model, though...AMAZING! Thank you Dremel! With the older drum style I would blow on the toenail while trimming to keep the dust and bits of toenail from flying into my dog's eyes, but this new "sander wheel" style has a dust guard that contains the dust and protects their little eyes (and keeps me clean...happy dog mom)! The fur guard...HUGE bonus since I have a 5 pound Maltese with long hair and she is much more relaxed using this Dremel because it doesn't tug on the hair around her feet. 

HUGE money saver over paying the vet every 4 weeks, and so easy to get dogs used to it! I've had friends ask me to do their dog's nails, then they purchased a Dremel! Follow the instructions, watch the video online, max 5 seconds per nail to keep the nail from overheating and burning your pup...and their nails look professionally trimmed! It doesn't get any better.

Great dog nail clipper

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] To this point, I've never trimmed our dog's nails.  Why? Because she's a small toy dog and is very skittish.  I've always sent her off to the groomer to do the dirty work for us.  Unfortunately this costs a bit of money each time, and we wanted to see how we could save money over the long haul.

Enter the Dremel 7300-PGK...

I've owned Dremel tools for years, and the Dremel 7300-PGK has the same quality fit, feel, and finish from all of the other tools I've come to love from Dremel.  My initial concern was that I thought the tool would be too big, but I was pleasantly surprised to see that this fit easily in the palm of my hand.

When I unboxed the 7300-PGK, there was the tool itself (with battery installed), the nail guard, instruction manual and registration card, battery charger, and a bag with other accessories in it.  Once I opened the accessory bag, there were 4 sanding discs, an EZ Lock mandrel, and the wrench to tighten the mandrel.

I then attached the EZ Lock mandrel to the chuck, tightened it with the supplied wrench, added a sanding disc, and then screwed the nail guard to the tool (after unscrewing the collar that's there out of the box) and that's it!  Set up was super easy and took maybe two minutes.  If you've ever used Dremel rotary tools in the past, this should be very intuitive.  If you haven't it is still very easy, and the supplied user manual does a great job of explaining all of the steps for you.

Anyone who's ever owned a small dog knows that they can often be skittish, so I turned on the tool to see how loud it was.  There are two speeds on this tool, marked "LO" and "HI"  the LO setting was very quiet, and because it is a constant noise, I figured our dog would get used to the noise very quickly.  Of course, the HI setting generates a few more RPMs, and is a little louder, but still not that loud.

Another thing to note is that these are sand disks on paper, so they're not rigid.  That's a good thing, as there's not  lot of pressure needed to apply when trimming your dog's nails.  Of course, before I tried this on our dog, I tried it on myself, and I could barely feel it.  I was actually a pleasant sensation when used on my own nails!  I was happy about that, as it's one less sensation for our dog to worry about.  Instead of relying on pressure to trim her nails, you let the speed and power of the Dremel do all of the work.

And then, the moment of truth - trying this on our dog!

I grabbed our dog and let her stand nearby, as I turned the 7300-PGK on the LO setting.  She didn't flinch.  I kept the tool on, grabbed her, and cradled her under my arm to hold her steady, as we sat down in the chair where the grooming took place.  Of course, my dog knew something was going on, but didn't freak out at all.  I grabbed one of her front paws, and gently placed it on the nail guard.  I'm not sure if it's the vibration of the tool itself, but our dog actually seemed to enjoy feeling the tool!  Once she got acclimated to it a bit more, I move her paw closer and began trimming her nails.  Since I felt the disc against my own finger and then nails, I knew there was a very light sensation she would feel, and that it shouldn't be uncomfortable at all.

When it was all said and done, we were able to gt all of our dog's nails trimmed, and it didn't take much time at all.  The nails on her hind legs took a little longer, but that was probably due to me not knowing how best to hold her to trim those nails.  I think that, as we become more accustomed to doing this, we'll be able to complete the whole thing in very little time at all.  The good thing is, now all I have to do is send her to the groomers for her hair cuts and I can save money on the nail trimming.

While I really liked the tool, there was one thing I think might be better arranged.  The power switch is a 3-setting switch, with off in the middle, LO to the right, and HI to the left.  I think transitioning from LO to HI without having to stop would be a nice feature to have, as then you wouldn't have to turn the tool off to transition speeds.  This might help with those skittish dogs that would need the constant hum to not be freaked out.  I don't see this as a big deal, but maybe something to consider for future designs.  Those of you with hearty dogs won't have that issue, though.

All in all, I'm extremely happy with the 7300-PGK and will continue to use it instead of sending my dog to the groomers.  The good thing now is that my children can take part in this, and groom our dog with little chance of hurting her.  I couldn't imagine letting them try to trim her nails with clippers.  The Dremel 7300-PGK is the tool the whole family can use.

This makes trimming our dog's nails super easy

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have 3 small dogs under 10lbs, 1 of which needs to be muzzled if I go anywhere near his feet. He was wonderful using this tool, I think he was sort of relieved that it wasn't the usual guillotine clippers that he hates so much. The other 2 let me complete all 4 paws at once, it's normally a 2 paw at a time thing. I love the plastic housing with the little "ramp" to rest the paw/nail on while trimming. I was concerned that it would be over-sized considering most universal pet items are sized for a med to larger dog, this was not, it would fit any dog with no problem. I like that it uses a sanding disc instead of a sanding drum, not only more cost effective but easier to control with the attachment. When using a drum only, it tended to skip around on the nail and splinter it sometimes, the attachment housing allows for control and stability. Great product, definitely worth the money, would recommend to anyone with pets!!

Awesome tool!!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Dremel 7300-PKG was very simple to put together.  In a matter of moments, I was trimming our two dachshund's nails. I trimmed all four paws of both dogs in just one setting. That has never happened before!  When I use our normal pinching type clippers the dogs always squirm and try to bite me so much that I have to stop and try another day.

The Dremel 7300-PKG allowed me to smoothly trim their nails.  No pinching and no pain. It worked great.  I was concerned that the sound of the Dremel 7300-PKG would scare them so I used the Low speed for the first nail of each dog.  I used the Hi speed on the rest of their nails and it did not bother them at all.

The adjustable guard made it easy to see what I was doing and the guard is hinged so the cleanup was very easy.  The guard trapped most, but not all, of the nail dust.  However, a little dust on my pants is well worth the excellent results provided by the Dremel 7300-PKG.  About the only thing that I did not like was the smell of the nails being sanded.  But that is no big deal, since it has a rechargeable battery I will just trim their nails outside in the fresh air next time.  The Dremel 7300-PKG was so effective that I plan to buy one for each of my children.

So Much Better than old stlye clippers!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We have 2 small dogs and 1 cat. The dogs are both older (10+) and hate having their nails clipped. The cat is young and is nearly impossible to clip. I've wasted LOTS of money on nail trimmers, both rotary and clipper style. The Dremel 7300-PGK is the first and only tool that's worked as promised. It's MUCH quieter than others on the market and hair doesn't get pulled into the tool. Our pets quickly learned to trust it.

This one WORKS!

I love that trimmer sands as if its filing the dogs and cats claws to give them a pedicure look. I also enjoy that it has sand protector to catch all the dust from the claws. I like that my dogs claws have a professional look that i did myself with ease to use. Its such an easy machine to work and very light to use. I reccomend this because I can do it myself and save the money without having to leave my house. Plus my dos enjoy their new look.

Trimmer Love

Saw via a Facebook ad and having a dog that does not like her paws played with it makes it hard to clip them. So I took a shot with this and it works great and instead of trying to bite me, she gave kisses.

Works Great

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I received this tool a few weeks ago and tried to use it to trim the nails of my two dogs.  The base tool is a battery powered Dremel tool with two speeds, and works great.  I tried using the nail trimmer on my two dogs and found that the trimmer worked well, but was not a great fit for my dogs.  The trimmer is basically a sanding disk with a plastic cover that gives you a pad for the dog's toe pads.  The main issue with the tool was that occasionally the dogs nails would skip across the top of the disk, apparently causing a feeling they did not like.  With the disk pulling their nails to the side, it seemed to make them uncomfortable. I think this would have been a much better tool as a drum sander and a side mounted toe pad.  In all, the tool works well. but is slower than using a set of clippers, and with the disk, the nails skipping across the top was uncomfortable for the pups.

The tool is great, but the nail trimmer is just ok

when we first had this, I could do all four dog nails, now after a few months, not even two dogs can be finished before the battery dies.
