Very easy to pickup and play game.  Does a good job of giving you a very simplified D&D type experience.  basically, you pick a character and go through a dungeon to race to see who can get to their target treasure amount first and leave the dungeon.   Great art, awesome board, and IMO they have improved on the classic game.

Any age, male or female,  if you'd like to sample the vibe & verbiage of D&D, this is a great place to start.  
After playing a few times, you'll either appreciate this as a stand alone board game, or you'll be curious to dig deeper into this culture...

Great sample taste of D&D

A great fantasy game that is easy to learn quickly, and is lots of fun for kids and adults alike.  Having 4 classes to choose from gives nice versatility to battling monsters.

Easy and Fun

I bought this for my husband for Christmas.  Simple enough to learn yet it is fun and has strategy to it. Pretty much one on one D & D monster battles to see who gets their gold limit first. We played it at our family gathering. Will play again and again.

Fun Game

I remembered this game from the 80's and ordered it to play with the family over the holidays.  It's still fun - though I believe it's been updated somewhat because I don't remember drow player pieces before.  Still, very entertaining :-)

Oldschool Board Game

Not really a game for the whole family. I played it a preteen and thought it would be great for my grandsons to play as well. Constant revisions over the years have made it a little more complex and leaves less to the imagination.
Original 1970s version of game will cost $100.00. Not worth the price.
This version for $25.00 will do.
