I start all our fire ring fires with this Fatwood, been doing it for years.
Never had an issue getting a fire started with this.
I usually split them into thinner pieces to spread out throughout the log cabin style fire. Do more with less.
It usually takes just two, split into about eight pieces, distributed throughout the wood pile.
Obviously you have to have a properly built fire with small, medium, and gradually large kindling.
Bottom line, these are amazing.

I am recently widowed, and am having to learn to make a fire in the wood heater. I know the steps, but to get it started and not burn my fires starting material I needed help.
I found a box of Fatwood by another brand, with a few pieces in it that my husband had.
They were kind of dry, not much pitch, and burned quicker.
Can smell the pitch in these, and they burn great.  I am a country lady, so remember pine pitch lattered (sp?) knots as a child, that dad used to build a fire.

Sunday week ago, our furnace died  and there was no heat, so I had the Duraflame Fatwood Resin-Rich Kindling sticks, I used them to get a good fire started in our fireplace, and I added firewood to keep it burning all night to keep the house warm.  The furnace repair people came Monday afternoon and got the furnace running again.  If I had not had them, the pipes would have frozen, and we might have frozen also, got down in the low teens that night.  Since I didn't have to use all of them, then next time I use the fireplace, I will use one or two as fire starters, they are great.

Excellent kindling

Watch out for the ripoffs on Walmart's website charging a ridiculous amout for this product. Don't know why Walmart allows them to do that. It makes Walmart look bad. Should be only about $10. Lights well, last long enough to get other firewood burning.  Since it's only $10/box and I'm in Florida (not too many cold nights) can be generous when using sticks to get fire started.

Works great but don't pay up for the ripoffs

These Duraflame fatwood sticks make starting a fire so much easier. They light quickly, burn long enough to catch the bigger logs, and don't give off any weird chemical smell. I keep them on hand for both my fireplace and outdoor fire pit—zero hassle every time. If you want something dependable that actually works, these are it.

Super easy, reliable fire starters

Best firestarter I have ever used in my fireplace. I have used plenty. Even though it's treated with some type of resin, there is no odor nor black smoke.   Very few sparks.

Fatwood fire starters

ladie on phone was rude and ladie that brought it out me just handed to me and walked away when I said thank you. I also was going to tip her but she missed out. product is great

These were always our go-to, however the last few boxes were  dry, instead of the moist and sappy sticks they used to be! Disappointing. Plus, they do not come in a sealed bag. Perhaps they should.

DO NOT use indoors! This product generates a horrible smelling smoke! I can see where it's great for outdoors where the smoke won't matter or the smell won't matter but for indoors I wouldn't recommend it at all. It's unsafe to breathe in all that resin smoke.

Not for indoor use

I have to use 3 or 4 of them to get a fire going!! They are terrible. Won't stay lit for 10 seconds!! Will never buy again and would give them zero stars if had been an option. Do not buy!
