CLEANING FLOORS: This DC65 was able to clean all the floors in the house with just one pass. It removed cat fur, human hair and other dirt from very dense thick, silver grey wool wall-to-wall in the master bedroom as well as other various rugs throughout the house, as well as from soft American cherry floors (real wood) and from tiled floors in the bathrooms. With 3 other vacuum cleaners, I would have to pick stuff out of the carpet and rugs that was left behind. I did shut off the rotating brush for the hard surfaces. The suction was so great that when I went over the hard surfaces with a disposable dusting cloth there was so little dirt left behind that I could now skip that step all together.
DUSTING ABOVE FLOORS: With the help of numerous Dyson attachments, I have been able to remove cobwebs from my numerous vaulted ceilings in the great room and bedroom using a step ladder. Because of the flexibility of extension hose and delicate attachments I have been able to remove the dust from ceiling fans, smoke detectors and lighting fixtures without having to separate dust. The incredible suction and flexibility of the hose has allowed me to dust on top of door jams, window sills and interior guide rails of my 52 windows in the house some of which are very odd shapes with very small angles. Another soft attachment has allowed me to remove dust from TV and computer screens as well as all furniture surfaces without scratching the surface. Only spot cleaning with a wet cloth was necessary on any of these surfaces. Before these surfaces required several steps of vacuuming to remove loose particulate matter, dusting with disposable cloth or pad, and then wiping with a wet cloth. In all it has save several hours of cleaning time, less cost and less garbage to dispose of.
PET CLEANUP: The best part of the great suction of the DC65 is cleaning up after 2 rambunctious cats that were once feral. We have 3 carpeted cat trees that gather fur, litter and other debris on a regular basis. Using the Dyson attachment for grooming dogs, the suction cleaned these feline furniture pieces back to almost new condition. This attachment works great without suction on the cats themselves, too. It is designed so well that I use this attachment to ‘brush' them down once a day while they are eating at their food bowls (only time they will stay still without having to hold them) without suction to cut down on fur balls and fur ALL over the house. The toughest messes are fur balls that my cats leave on light silver grey carpeting. I let it dry completely and the Dyson attachments that fit the DC65 remove the particulate matter that where the fur ball was barely discernible. Wet cleaning was almost unnecessary. This means that I don't add to the problem, by wetting the carpet with cleaning solution or water which actually carries and spreads the stain deeper into the fibers of the carpet and down further into the pile.
DESIGN: Apart from the great suction, the DC65 is designed for easy maintenance. Everything can be taken apart and cleaned without a screwdriver or other tools. The brush head cover is easy to remove to allow access to the roller brush to remove hair and threadlike debris, unlike other vacuum cleaner where cleaning it was chore in itself. No bags to buy; so can't run out of bags at the most inopportune moments, just a simple rinse of the filters and cylinder that catches the dirt is all that is needed to keep the DC65 performing at the highest level. Previous to Dyson, I had owned 3 vacuum cleaners which in the end cost more than the DC65, not including the costs of boxes and boxes of disposable dusters and dusting cloths that just went into landfills. I did purchase a Dyson vacuum previous to evaluating this one, so the DC65 is a little heavier than my previous Dyson but the DC65 cord is longer and its suction is much more powerful.

DC65's great suction performs better than ever!

I have to say, I'm appalled. Absolutely disgusted, and downright repulsed. I vacuum weekly, and have a small dog that doesn't shed (or so I thought). The quantity of dirt and hair that was pulled out of my carpet and the corners of my hardwood floors with the DC65 was shocking. I instantly realized why I experienced random bouts of allergy issues.

This thing is amazing. It's light, powerful, and versatile. It goes from carpet to tile to hardwood without a hitch. The extra long hose is great and makes the DC65 even more flexible. The cord is sufficiently long (though I do miss the auto-retracting cord from my DC26 canister). It glides along on the ball like a Ferrari at the Nürburgring.

I am a total sucker for good design, but that's just icing on the incredible engineering cake. Dyson DC65, I think I love you.

Wow...

I replaced my Dyson DC25 Animal with the new Dyson DC65 Multi Floor. The Dyson DC25 has provided years of great service so I did not know how much better the DC65 would be. After using it I can report that the DC65 is a huge improvement over my DC25. The first thing I noticed was the longer power cord. I used to have to unplug and move the cord 2 times to vacuum my downstairs living room and 2 bedrooms.

With the DC65, the cord is long enough that I just plug it in once and can vacuum the entire downstairs without moving to another outlet.

The next thing I noticed was the much wider brush bar, since it covers a wider area, it means a little less work to vacuum the same size area than the older DC25. My house has a combination of wood floors, carpeting and area rugs.

One of the great things about the DC25 is that it did a good job on all types of floors. The DC65 is much better, we have 3 dogs so sometimes getting the dog hair out of the carpet and area rugs can be a challenge.

The first area I used the DC65 was on the area rugs and carpeting. You can feel how powerful the suction is on this machine the second you turn it on. The DC25 had problems getting in the “ground in” dog hair on the carpet/area rugs, the DC65 did not have the same problem. I noticed a significant improvement in the DC65, after I vacuumed the area rugs I realized that they had not been this clean in a long time.

The other great thing about the DC65 is the edge to edge cleaning of the brush bar due to the new design. This works especially well wood floors as it allows you to vacuum right up to the edge of the floor.
Overall I am extremely satisfied with the DC65. It does an excellent job on all types of flooring I have in my home. It is easy to use and easy to clean, you will also notice the high quality workmanship in this vacuum.

Brand loyalty is something that doesn't exist much anymore as manufacturers seem to just care about mass producing their products without much attention to detail or quality. Dyson does not fall into this category, all of their products that I own have exceeded my expectations for performance and quality. Keep up the good work!

Dyson continues to impress me.

I have had my dyson for years.....not the "ball" design and loved it. Now I have this new shiny Multi-floor Ball. This took me some time as I really wasnt impressed with "ball" instead of wheels.

Let's start with the info: My home is large with 2 cats. Tons of hair all over the house and multiple rooms from tile to carpet.

The Good: This new model with this super "multi-floor" really does the trick. When using the vacuum from room to room the head of the vacuum adjusts effortlessly from tile to carpet. Every little crumb and hair is picked up. Other great things - slightly quieter than previous dyson, moves easily, great attachments, longer cord (can get through multiple rooms and strong suction.

Now - the one things I dont really like is the way the unit drops. Prior Dysons you needed to put your foot on the head and push down to release. This just has two wheels and if you push down with your hand hard enough it "pops" into place. Maybe I just need to get use to using this - but I prefer a more secure and locked unit. Also the "ball" isnt too much of an added benefit. I dont know about you - but I dont work in circles, rainbows or curves in the house. I vacuum straight - back and forth. This will take a little getting use to but certainly not a reason to purchase this vacuum.

Why do I love it so much? MY HOUSE IS CLEAN! I have yet to find a vacuum that really gets everything picked up. This one, with the mullti-floor head is amazing......room to room it just doesn't stop!

Old versus New

The DC65 Animal is an extremely powerful vacuum. It has enough suction that after vacuuming my carpet, it looks as though a professional company came in and did the job. The only drawback is when using the attachments. It doesn't always have the suction you would expect because your using it at different angles which sometimes cuts off the suction.
But overall, I am very happy to have this vacuum in my home. It works great on all floor types.

DC65 Animal

I already own the DC44 Animal, which I LOVE for quick pickups and small places.
The DC65 multi-floor is an excellent full-size vacuum, which I expected, but which came with some pleasant surprises.
Here are some impressions I have:
- Easy to assemble
- Quieter than any other vacuum I've ever used - unexpected
- The extension reaches to the top of my 14 stairs and is easy to pull out.
- Great suction. Removed much debris from my carpet, even though I had just used my other vacuum the day before.
- Love the easy-empty cannister, which is so much better than the mess and mystery of using a bag.
- Love the carrying handle location - a surprise that makes it very easy to carry
- Very easy to glide back and forth - especially given it's weight and suction
- Smooth transition between carpet and floor

This is an excellent cleaning tool. I was shocked at how much debris I removed from what I thought was a clean carpet! It is noticeably more quiet than any other vacuum I've used. I like the vacuum so much that I was wondering whether it would live on the first or second floor of my house. I wished for two! Dyson has solved my problem. The location of the carrying handle (balanced in the middle), makes it very easy to lift and carry around, even up stairs. This is unexpected, and a huge advantage recognized by anyone who has struggled to carry a heavy vacuum up and down stairs by the pushing handle. The transition from carpet to floor is amazingly smooth. When pulling out the extension or emptying the canister, the parts click easily and smoothly back into place.
Excellent design. My house feels much cleaner.

Very Effective Vacuum

The DC65 cleaned my carpet that looked clean. It picked up the finest particles that you could imagine. OMG !!! I LOVE IT. I LOVE IT!
It swept my hardwood and tile like nobody's business. The tile looked like I had 'hand dusted' the Construction grit and dust my husband tracks in no matter how clean he tries to be, It got the most minute dust from between the hardwood flooring. Going from one surface to another is a Great plus!! No other cleaner compares to the Dyson DC65 and I have had my share of them in the last 41 years of cleaning behind my House/Bridge Construction worker of a husband and two sons!! The DC65 is an investment. My home feels so much cleaner. I have to say it's the Best Yet!!! Thanks Dyson. We'll always be partners!!

W'ell Always be Partners

The ease of using the DC65 is wonderful. I didn't think the ball made a difference until I used it. I now get it. The small head allows you to get into small spaces while the ball helps get the rest of the vacuum out of the way so you can maneuver in and out of tight spots. It has allowed me to get into and under spaces I could never get in before with a upright vacuum cleaner. Saving me time and energy and I don't need other tools such as a broom.

The light weight makes it easy to carry up and down steps while the on board attachments keep everything at your finger tips.

The suction on this vacuum is amazing. When they say it doesn't lose suction they mean it. I have several types of flooring. All of which Dyson multi floor seems to have no problem tackling. I have VERY plush white carpeting. I have laminate flooring and tile floor. I also have some very low pile carpeting. The vacuum glides right over every level. But lets not limit our vacuums. I use my Dyson on my bedding, furniture, curtains just to name a few.

As the mother of two long haired cats I am amazed by the amount of fur I find in the Dyson tank every time I use it. Dyson does it's self a disservice not advertising that all their products pick up fur. Where does it come from is my biggest question when using a Dyson. It's almost embarrassing when you look in the tank and see what it picks up.

I have had many vacuum cleaners and none of the compare to the Dyson. I use to have trouble getting kitty litter up with other vacuum. They would pick up most of the litter but it was always shooting the litter out the back side. The low head of the Dyson tackles that problem. When I first got my Dyson I had such a ball using it. Wondering what it's going to pick up now. I am still amazed by the vacuum.

I get the ball now!

GREAT product, as with most homeowners we have had and tried numerous vacuums, and they usually last about a year, and the dont do well, this thing is awesome !!!

The vacuum itself is wonderful. Like all new vacuums, the suction is great - but this is my first Dyson - and wow. I consider myself a very clean person and I would be embarrassed to show anyone how much dirt came out of just my area rug. This vacuum does an excellent job moving from bare floor to carpets and might be my favorite feature - maybe a close second if you count the suction. The only thing I don't like about this machine is the hose assembly. The hose is very stiff and tough to extend, maybe partly due to the suction power. The hose only seems to extend to a certain point (not like the picture) before it starts pulling the vacuum along with it. I am not a huge fan of the long plastic piece that extends off the hose either. I like to have the tools closer for better control when vacuuming the dog hair off my couch. I personally would prefer if the tools attached closer to the hose and I had the option of adding a plastic extension for higher jobs.

Excellent suction

I used my Dyson a total of three times before it got clogged and would no longer work when sweeping only the hose.....I have no indoor animals and when I called since its under warranty I was on hold well over an hour before someone walked me through the steps to unclog it.....which afterwards it worked again for less than one use before clogging again its literally a joke......was told I could take it to get fixed (over 2 hours away) just ridiculous.
