I bought the Dyson Gen5Detect a few weeks ago and I LOVE it!  It shows the dirt/dust as you pick it up. I especially like the On/Off switch rather than a trigger you have to press the entire time you are using the vacuum. Since the vacuum is heavy the switch is definitely more comfortable. It is a wonderful product and worth the money. It's not noisy. Excellent suction and filtration. I would buy again.

Dyson Gen5 is Great

I have 2 Border Collies that shed like it is snowing. The Animal works great but is a pain for quick clean ups. This is perfect in size, weight and it really sucks! Other brands I have tried, but could not get the hair off the rug completely, no matter how many passes I made. This one takes only 1 or 2 passes and done!! YAY, another Dyson product that works exactly as stated!

Perfect and does what it says!!

Works beautifully.  Such a step up from the model we had that did not adiquately clean up all the pet hair.  I particulary love the lighted wand used to clean the uncarpeted floors.

A great model for pet owners

To save space I decided to use a Dyson cordless vacuum as my main vacuum cleaner in my apartment.  Therefore, I needed one that had plenty of suction, could do a multitude jobs, and had an extra battery.  The larger outsize Dyson cordless seemed perfect. I have used it for about three weeks now and it is working exactly as I had hoped.  Could not be happier with the product and it's performance.

A Work Horse

I bought this vacuum 3 weeks ago as an update to my V11 Dyson vacuum . I love some of the updates the power on off button instead of trigger on off is a great one . Also the light fluffy head cleaner for hardwoods . Helps see all the dirt that you may have missed  without it .But I'm a bit disappointed in the battery life . I have a 1300 share foot ranch with area rugs and hardwoods and can't get through the whole house one a full charge . This vacuum being the top of the line i thought it would stay charged longer than my older V11 cordless vacuum . My V11 i never ran out of charge vacuuming . That is definitely a big disappointment for me when it's advertised to have this long battery life.  All in all it's a great vacuum just the battery a problem for me .

We are upgrading from an older Dyson and were really interested in having a lighted motor.  The light seems to be beneficial on the hardwood attachment, but are really disappointed there is no light on the carpet motor.

Where's the Light?

Great vacuum, cleans very well. The green light on the bare floor attachment is amazing, allowing user to see every speck of dust on surfaces - we started vacuuming way more frequently as a direct result of purchasing the gen5Outsize vacuum. The auto particle-size-sensing-based suction adjustment is also very convenient. Some of the downsides are (1) the device is rather heavy, making it difficult for individuals with less arm strength to operate the unit for an extended period of time without getting tired, (2) it is the first and only vacuum cleaner we've purchased that did NOT come with a crevice attachment, and (3) the included docking station is pretty much impossible to uninstall without ripping out the drywall once mounted, unless you mounted it on a solid piece of wood (or similarly sturdy) surface due to the way the mounting pieces are designed - had to purchase a separate “floor dok multi” to be able to store & charge the device.

Great vacuum, but heavy & lacks key attachments

I've had it almost a month and I've had an outsize from a previous generation. This latest one is much heavier than previously, and frustratingly the fluffy hardwood head is NOT XL sized so you have this massive vacuum and tiny head on it. The added weight and no laser on the XL head are setbacks for the insane price point of all of this plastic.

It's okay

As a long time lover of the Dyson this really disappoints. It's heavy and awkward. It actually has to much suction for the carpet and it turns the roller off. There's no trigger so once that happens you have to turn it on and off again numerous times while vacuuming one room even on Echo. I love the hard wood floor attachment but it is so small it takes a lot of time to do a small area. And the price not worth it over 1k. I just really expected more from Dyson.

Don't waste your money!!!!

Shame on you Dyson! If I could give you 0 rating I would! I purchased the Outsize gen 5 to replace my current outsize I purchased 6 years ago. In my opinion the new vacuum is such a let down. The sweeper head for hard wood floors is so small, it takes me twice as long to vacuum. Your description states that it cleans homes medium to large. I guess if I lived in a box that might be true. The suction is not what I expected for a Dyson. I don't like the fact that there's no trigger. Attachments from my old outsize do not fit the new vacuum! The most aggravating thing however is I also purchased the dok station that was supposedly to fit all outsize models because the dok station I currently have no longer fits the new vacuum (another nice way to help the consumer spend more money)!! The battery cord plug is too large and will not fit inside the pole that snaps to the vacuum. So waste of money! I've used Dysons for years and always thought it was the best on the market! Unfortunately I won't be buying another one.
