Gave this as a gift to a friends daughter as she is a bit younger and would benefit more from this toy than my 4 year old who gets bored quickly of these kinds of toys. The 2 year old loves it! she doesn't really do any sort of special designs but she loves just screwing and unscrewing the nuts on!

Educational Insights

We love this set! So many good things to say about this! Not only is it just plain fun, it is also a wonderful learning tool! I feel like this is really helpful for hand eye coordination and small motor skills. The patterns it comes with are super cute and easy to follow. I really love that it comes with the battery powered drill and a manual one, perfect for tiny hands and parents who frequently run out of batteries. Also, it's the kind of toy that makes little kids feel like they are doing big people work. The only thing that made it a little difficult was that the board kind of slides around if you're using it on a smooth table, other than that it's great. I would highly recommend this toy!! I received a sample of the Design and Drill by Educational Insights in exchange for my honest opinion.

So much fun!

This activity is really awesome, it's fun to create the patterns they provide our make your own design. It's awesome that it has a working drill which is such an awesome skill it teaches but it also helps with hand eye coordination. I think this set is best for younger kids, 3 year olds would be the best age. My 5 year old became bored with it quickly. But it's a really cute design and fun activity.

Fun Exciting Tools

When I first gave this to my boys, they played with it for HOURS. And they have played with it everyday since we've had it. They don't really follow the patterns, but they absolutely love drilling the screws into the board. If I had to change anything, I would have the pattern cards come laminated, just because my boys tore up a couple of the cards pretty quickly. Other than that, we love this product. It is fun and educational all in one!

My Boys Love This!

I received this product free through bzzagent, and my son was so excited to play. I forgot it was coming, and after the first day, he wanted to play with every morning since. Comes with a screw gun at a low enough setting for a 2 year olds (almost 3). Also a flat head hand screwdriver is included and it's a very engaging toy. Would recommend it to 2-3 year old definitely.

My 2 year old loves it!

My 4 year old really enjoyed this drill set. He had plenty of experience with using a similar toy so drilling the shapes and patterns was his only task and he did very well. This is a nice thing to do on a rainy day when we need to get the little guy busy and it's educational. I think it's a great toy and it the pieces are made very nicely.

Design & Drill Patterns & Shapes

This has been so popular since it arrived, our three year old has spent a ton of time drilling and messing with it. We're excited that it's helping teach motor control and patterns and the drill is really fun. Even our six year old has been enjoying doing this with her little brother and that's probably our favorite part. If we had to suggest an improvement, the only thing we can think of is a better quality screw for the battery cover. It was pretty difficult to get off and we stripped it pretty good I'm not sure it'll recover from the next time we change batteries out. We may need to find a replacement screw when that happens. Other than that, this is a great educational toy.

A total hit with my 3 year old and 6 year old

I used this in my classroom as part of a fine motor assignment. It helps build the students muscles as well as help them learn their shapes and creativity. The students really enjoy playing with this so I may need to get a few more. It keeps them busy and they are learning also which is great.

Great for kids

I was really excited to be chosen for this toy, I am an educator and a parent so anything to work on following patterns, fine motor, and discrimination are exciting to me. However, right away I was disappointed. The drill that came with my set was broken. I contacted customer support and they sent me a new one no problem. So that didn't really upset me. Things like that happen and they fixed it for me. When the new drill came I put the batteries in and was once again slightly disappointed. The drill turned slowly and it was loud like the gears were grinding. I get it, it's for 3 year olds so it can be slow. But then I got my 3 year old son to play with it. He wanted to push down as he drilled in the screws and it stopped the drill. After teaching him how to do it softly he kept going. But the threading on the screws are small and it takes awhile with the slow drill to in all the way. He wanted to do the screwdriver and that was even slower for him. He quickly lost interest. It's a cool toy. A cool concept. But some slight missteps. Even for an older child I think they would get frustrated with how long it takes for each screw to go in.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Our grandson used it for 30 minutes at which time the batteries were run down; replaced the batteries and it ran horrible. Very disappointed. I bought from this company because another grandchild had a similar product that is excellent--but not this one!

I would NOT buy this again.
