I received this mug almost 4 years ago. I LOVE it!  I had also experienced some pealing on the inside of it about a year in, (probably due to my own negligence) and contacted the company to see if I could just buy the mug without the charger. 
They sent me a new mug! 
When I was working this was a game changer for me as the coffee kept getting cold while I was back and forth away from my desk. Saved me a few of those Starbucks coffees more than once. 
I'm now retired and use it while sitting outside as my coffee cools down quickly out there. 
So pleased with the mug and the service, I recommend this to everyone I know.

It's GOLDILOCKS, this mug.  Never too hot, never too cold.  Jusssst right.  I mean, once you experience an Ember, you can't go back.  I tried recently.  The disappointment ruined my morning.  And, by extension, everyone who had to deal with me afterward.  Don't ruin your own morning.  Get an Ember.  Or three.  It's seriously that good.

Game changer!

Got my mug as a gift, and it works excellent!  
Just wish it had a light on the left handed side!!!

Pretty cool, well actually…

It's great when it works, but now it won't connect. I've done all of the things suggested but still no luck. The cup is only a few years old. For the price of them they should last a lot longer. It sits on the charger every night.

Won't connect

Just got a cup to replace my old one, which I used for 3 years before the battery was as bad as the new version. With the first version of the cup, I kept my drink hot plus two refills. With the new version, it keeps your drink hot, if you don't leave it too long. The battery went from a full charge last night to less than 90% over night(not used) This morning I was halfway through my tea and it said 18%. The app works better, but it's a waste of R&D when the product is declining. It will soon be a paperweight...  which nobody needs anymore either.

Don't buy.

I got the mug about a year and a half ago now. It was truly a game changer, and easily my new favourite thing at home. Who knew that having a hot drink that stays hot is one of life's small pleasures! That said, there are some things that Ember needs to work out before I could ever recommend it to anyone. 

The battery life is really poor, and lasts around an hour at best. When you wash it and then leave it with the rest of your cups, it will likely not be charged for your next drink. If you wash it and leave it on the coaster after, it will degrade the battery. After about a year, my cup's battery life was around half an hour. Moreover, after about a year and a half, my coaster failed entirely. One of the charging pins broke and stayed recessed; so the cup would no longer charge. 

The bluetooth connection to the cup is really hit or miss. I would constantly have to pair it with the app; about once a week. The cup constantly went from charging to not charging when on the coaster as well. I'm not sure if the bluetooth confusion contributed to this. There were a lot of times where I had the cup on the coaster, but after a while realized it was no longer charging; so if I took my time having my drink, it got cold during those times despite being on the coaster. 

The ceramic coating is not very durable. I primarily have black coffee or an americano, with no sugar or milk. So I never used a spoon or a straw or anything that I needed to stick inside it; only hand washed it too. After about 8 months, the inside of the cup was really worn out, where the ceramic coating was visibly worn off for about two-thirds of the inside. 

For these reasons, it's an impossible product to recommend; especially at this price and where the warranty is only one year. If you use it every day, something will for sure go wrong sooner than later. I want to love it, but until these things are addressed, we are buying expensive prototypes.

Amazing concept, poor execution

It looks amazing and the concept is great but it is a complete failure to use. It doesn't matter if I turn it on before I pour my coffee or after I pour my coffee, the software always says Empty. I cannot get it to turn on and choose a preset. If I pour the coffee out wipe the mug dry and try it all again in any order I get the same result.

Don't bother

Got this mug for Christmas (2024). I wasn't sure what to think of it but after the first use, this was awesome! A cup of coffee that's the same temperature from start to finish, very cool!! Over the next few weeks I would experience at least once a week if not more the mug and my phone would essentially forget each other and I'd have to go through the pairing process again. Annoying but manageable. Until today (FEB 18, 2025). The mug no longer turns on/off with the button. I have to use the app (until my phone and mug forget each other again). For something that costs what this mug does, less than 2 months of use before a malfunction is simply unacceptable! I won't recommend this item to anyone in fact I'll tell people to avoid this product!

Great until it's not!

Please do not promise and not deliver. The app does not connect, ever morning the mug has disconnected and then you have to reconnect it and even then, you are lucky to have it work. Sometimes pouring fresh hot tea from the kettle and it does not think there is any liquid in the mug.  The change the LED colour feature NEVER works. Reset does not work, sometimes the power on and off does not work. My brand-new mug will not hit 100% charge. This is a garbage product, do not waste your time or money on it. ALL HYPE.

THE WORST APP EVER MADE

I must have got a lemon which can happen but every time I try to login for support it goes nowhere ? How does this piece of dead weight get good reviews ?? My mug from day one is a useless paper weight! Never works, never heats, and batter lasts for a whopping 7 minutes ! 
Do yourselves a favour, buy paper cups they are better and much much cheaper !
