I know some people didn't like the romance subplot but I was absolutely blown away with it. So unlike many fantasy writers Heather Fawcett creates an absolutely charming characters. Not shadow daddy, but an uncharacteristically capricious fairy prince that likes hot chocolate and sleeping in. Emily Wilde is indeed curmudgeony, sometimes she is not nice at all. It really creates complicated characters that you grow to love. The story itself is amazing. It is terrifying and at times cute. I honestly have not read anything like this before and I have read A LOT in the genre. Absolutely recommend. Delightful read

I'm not usually into this sort of book, but the writing was delightful, the characters interesting, and the plot blended actual folklore and history enough to be really engaging.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I give this book a three star because I consider it more a teenager book than adult, but story line was good. If you are looking for something like ACOTOR, this is not it.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I enjoyed the take on faeries, it follows along more with folklore and mythology. I did think it was lacking in some areas,  especially the romance. So if that's what you're looking for, this is probably not it. I did still enjoy it.
