I have done a lot of photography using 120 slide film in a Bronica SQ. Have used this scanner exclusively for the purpose of scanning these images into digital form. Have done about 60 of them at 4800 dpi and the results are amazing. Great scanner for this purpose at this price.

Great Scanner For 120 Film

I have a few thousand slides from the seventies that I am scanning. Comparing this Epson scanner with a five-year-old one from Cannon. On the plus side:
1) Scans are sharper with more detail
2) Dust/scratch removal is far better with the excellent Digital ICE
On the minus side:
3) Colour and shadows still need to be adjusted using Photoshop
4) Scanning is slower (although less time is required for adjusting the images)
5) 4-slides per scan is to low - 6 to 8 at a time would be better.
All in all an excellent scanner

Scanning old slides

Well, I have used a lot of scanners over the years this V600 is for the serious amateur and for anyone who would like to digitise their old photos negatives or slides. To get the best out of the scanner use the Epson software and profiles or upgrade to SilverFast 8 software.

Perfect 10 for the all rounder

The name Perfection is no understatement. I tested the performance and quality of this scanner before starting to transfer many years of photos and slides to disc.
Some wartime photos were looking quite sad but the V600 brought them back to life again. 35mm slides now have the colours as new, thank goodness I did not throw them out.
I have over 2000 slides and about 1000 photos to copy which I hope the V600 will complete with Perfection.

Perfect Scanner

I don't use the supplied plastic templates. You have to beware not to have the scanned object too near the top. It appears to try and recognise the plastic template. I scan lots of glass plates and random size negatives, many dating back to pre 1900. When used with Vuescan software (takes some learning to get best results) it produces excellent results and can be used very productively. I use dental floss to mark out the area where transparencies can be scanned. V600 photo being LED based, the negatives no longer get hot and bend so I don't need the plane glass plate I used to use to flatten the negatives. Only wish I could afford the scanner with the larger negative scan area.
As an aside, with a number of trials with a friend, only Epson scanners have we found handle the blues and greens correctly. My friend is a military aircraft expert and the camoflauge on some aircraft is quite challenging.

Use with software Vuescan to scan glass plates. Excellent job.

Easy to install drivers and software. The software is flexible with various modes from fully auto to expert offering a range of functions depending upon the users experience and requirements. The scanner produces good copies of all the media I've used, including slides, negatives, photo's, documents, objects, i.e. small components, cd's etc. The recovery software, scratch removal etc., works quite well although I find I still need to do manual touching up of damage on some images. Overall it's a good scanner producing good images via clever software. Recommended.

Clever software, good results.

I've had this scanner for almost 5 years now. Have used it for negative scanning, photo scanning, and document scanning. I have done literally over a thousand scans with my scanner. I recommend this to anyone who needs a scanner. no matter what you need it for, it will. do an amazing job.

Work Horse

The V600 is great, it does what it's supposed to. ISSUE: The included "Abbyy Fine Reader" software was NOT compatible with Windows 10 on my PC. Outlook and Word would no longer work. Unnecessary downtime while I figured out how to deal with this unexpected and irritating issue!

Positive review but one big issue

probably not as good as expected. limited slide enhancement capabilities. Slow as is without extra step of moving pics to flash drive. Would be nice to have a better system for loading /unloading slides.

Could use direct storage onto a flash drive without the comp

I used the V600 several times since purchasing it a couple weeks ago and find it easy to use for both negative film as well as slides. 
The quality is very good and I'm pleased with my purchase.
