I have done a lot of photography using 120 slide film in a Bronica SQ. Have used this scanner exclusively for the purpose of scanning these images into digital form. Have done about 60 of them at 4800 dpi and the results are amazing. Great scanner for this purpose at this price.

Great Scanner For 120 Film

I have a few thousand slides from the seventies that I am scanning. Comparing this Epson scanner with a five-year-old one from Cannon. On the plus side:
1) Scans are sharper with more detail
2) Dust/scratch removal is far better with the excellent Digital ICE
On the minus side:
3) Colour and shadows still need to be adjusted using Photoshop
4) Scanning is slower (although less time is required for adjusting the images)
5) 4-slides per scan is to low - 6 to 8 at a time would be better.
All in all an excellent scanner

Scanning old slides

I bought this unit to replace a competitor's scanner. My last scanner was several years old and the drivers were not updated for Windows 10, so it is a brick. I have confidence that I will be able to use the Epson V600 for many years. The quality of the scanner output is fantastic. The Epson V600 is recognized as a scanner and is compatible with Jasc Paint Shop Pro 8 and Nuance OmniPage Ultimate OCR--my two favorite applications.

Works on Windows 10

I looked at lots of scanners before deciding on the Epson V600. I was not disappointed, it is well made, easy & quick to operate, & the results are superb. I have copied prints, & newspaper cuttings, Slides, & various sizes of negatives all with excellent results. Even if your negatives are not the right size for the plastic negative holders provided you can still scan them but making a cardboard/paper template. A very good machine & does the job well.

I recommend the Epson

I've had this scanner about 6 months.  I have been digitizing our old pictures & slides.  The scanner does a great job on both.  The colour correction and digital ice features do a more than good job bringing back old slides and photos.  The digital ice feature does slow the process significantly, but for the money I am extremely pleased.  I'm using it with a 2015 iMac  OSX 10.13.4

Great Affordable Scanner

This scanner is brilliant. I previously had the Plustek OpticFilm8200iAi which I returned as faulty as it gave inconsistent and dark/muddy results, and the Silverscan software was difficult to use. The Epson V600 is a breeze to use by comparison. The supplied software works really well. Automatic colour and exposure correction is very effective, as is the ICE dust removal (except on Kodachromes where artifacts are left along high contrast edges). Any further touching up can easily be done in the supplied Photoshop Elements software. Have completed scanning over 500+ of my Dad's 50yr old slides, and the results are amazing - they have truly been brought back to life. Thoroughly recommended.

Brilliant photo scanner!

I had a PC when I first bought this scanner and since then have gone through a Thinkpad then a MacAir and now a MacBook Pro. The V600 has worked just fine at each move. I have just purchased another printer but this one has a flatbed scanner, however I don't think I will be replacing my V600 as I still have lots of Negatives and Slides to convert and it does a great job on these.

The V600 is great, it does what it's supposed to. ISSUE: The included "Abbyy Fine Reader" software was NOT compatible with Windows 10 on my PC. Outlook and Word would no longer work. Unnecessary downtime while I figured out how to deal with this unexpected and irritating issue!

Positive review but one big issue

probably not as good as expected. limited slide enhancement capabilities. Slow as is without extra step of moving pics to flash drive. Would be nice to have a better system for loading /unloading slides.

Could use direct storage onto a flash drive without the comp

I used the V600 several times since purchasing it a couple weeks ago and find it easy to use for both negative film as well as slides. 
The quality is very good and I'm pleased with my purchase.
