I wanted a very basic scanner for inherited photos.  I am glad I took a chance on this despite the negative reviews.  Unboxed to using in under 10 minutes with Windows 11. Included quick start  instructions were helpful. Downloaded full manual from Epson site.  Use the Epson Scan software to manage settings. Changing from Color to Grayscale fixes the issues that a few have reported with B%26W scans. For the price, I got what I expected in a very simple package.

In purchasing this scanner I initially read many comments which reported it was somewhat difficult to install and use.  I found that not to be so if you read the directions and followed them to the letter.  I had no problems with the installation and while the editing of the pictures is limited, I only needed to be able to scan them so am more than satisfied.  I was able to scan 4x6's 4 at a time which speeded up the process.  The unit is lightweight, easy to use and worth every penny.  I have scanned over 1000 pictures on it so far and am so happy to have done this for the cost of the unit.  The services to do this many pictures would have far exceeded the cost of purchasing the unit and I will be able to do documents in future if I wish.

A very satisfied user

It arrived safe and sound.  Works great for scanning off my paintings and drawings to sell prints.  The quality of the scan is excellent, as long as there is nothing lifting the artwork up at all.  It does amazing enlargements as well by scanning with a higher DPI.  The scan software that you download for it has been all I have needed so far.  The ability to stitch images together has taken a lot of experimenting to figure out but does work once you get the hang of it.  It is lightweight and easy move when needed due to limited space.

Glad I ordered it

I have thousands of family photos that i dreaded to sort and put in photo albums.  I saw this scanner, LOVE the Epson brand, price was great, so ordered it.  Came really fast, installed easily and is WONDERFUL.  The included software enables you to edit, adjust the clarity of old black and white photos (by old, i mean over 60 year old photos, some even older!).  I am transferring them to an external hard drive into separate folders.  This scanner is a dream come true and no need for photo albums that need to be stored as well.  GREAT BUY!!!!

BUY THIS SCANNER!!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I'm not a techie, yet had absolutely no trouble following the included directions.  I was able to download for Windows 11 to my laptop, and use this Epson Perfection V39 II Color Photo and Document Flatbed Scanner with no hassles at all. It was easy to scan,  name, and save both photos and documents to my Dell laptop and Dell desktop. I'm glad I ignored the negative reviews, and just wish I'd bought it sooner.

This is the easy one you're looking for....

This scanner does great on documents and some pictures.  While it doesn't have as many features as much more expensive scanners, it is extremely easy to use and does a great job scanning documents (which was my purpose in buying it).  I use mine as plug and play which helps with space on the desk!

Epson scanner

It's easy to set up and use but have found that some items turn out better with my other scanner as I can make more adjustments with my all-in-one Epson.  Pictures seem to be best scanned using this scanner.

It works well enough, but for some reason in 2025 they're still using a microusb cable, meaning this thing is still USB 2.0 based when USB 3.0 was released over fifteen years ago.  As a result, scanning at over 1200 DPI is agonizingly slow.   The software is only okay and feels like it was written around the same time USB 2.0 came out--25 years ago.

Overall it's just "okay".  It honestly made me regret buying it to replace an old Canon model that was built into an ancient printer.   At least it had Wifi scanning.

Slow, MicroUSB and USB 2.0... in 2025?  Why?

As a graphic designer for 30 years, I bought this scanner because it was supposed to be “one of the best” and compatible with mac os 15.  It is not. My brand new mac mini will not recognize it, and it was only then that I found complaint after complaint from mac users with the very same problem. I think the norm for “Quality Assurance” programs these days is to rush the product out the door and wait for customer feedback to see if there's a problem. My, how times have changed from the days when I used to do product testing. There should be NO “troubleshooting” for a brand new product.

So much for “Quality Assurance"

This scanner was very appealing due to its size, weight, and overall portability. When I received it I was disappointed to see it only has one outdated micro-USB port for power and data transfer. It did not come with anything to connect to my MacBook so I started ordering adapters and different cables. After months of sporadic attempts and frustration, I have had to conclude it never worked from the start.
